An airplane flies eastward and always accelerates at a constant rate. At one position along its path it has a velocity of 34.3 m
Tomtit [17]

Explanation:

We'll need two equations.

v² = v₀² + 2a(x - x₀)

where v is the final velocity, v₀ is the initial velocity, a is the acceleration, x is the final position, and x₀ is the initial position.

x = x₀ + ½ (v + v₀)t

where t is time.

Given:

v = 47.5 m/s

v₀ = 34.3 m/s

x - x₀ = 40100 m

Find: a and t

(47.5)² = (34.3)² + 2a(40100)

a = 0.0135 m/s²

40100 = ½ (47.5 + 34.3)t

t = 980 s

What is the minimum runway length that will serve? hint: you can solve this problem using ratios without having any additional i
ehidna [41]

There are many factors that determine if an aircraft can operate from a given airport. Of course the availability of certain services, such as fuel, access to air stairs and maintenance are all necessary. But before considering anything else, one must determine if the plane can physically land at an airport, and equally as important, take off.

What is the minimum runway length that will serve?

Looking at aerial views of runways can lead some to the assumption that they are all uniform, big and appropriate for any plane to land. This couldn’t be further from the truth.

A given aircraft type has its own individual set of requirements in regards to these dimensions. The classic 150’ wide runway that can handle a wide-body plane for a large group charter flight isn’t a guarantee at every airport. Knowing the width of available runways is important for a variety of reasons including runway illusion and crosswind condition.

Runways also have different approach categories based on width, and have universal threshold markings that indicate the actual width.

A 120 kg box is on the verge of slipping down an inclined plane with an angle of inclination of 47º. What is the coefficient of
Alex_Xolod [135]

Given :

A 120 kg box is on the verge of slipping down an inclined plane with an angle of inclination of 47º.

To Find :

The coefficient of static friction between the box and the plane.

Solution :

Vertical component of force :

mg\ sin\ \theta =  120\times 10 \times sin\ 47^\circ{}=877.62 \ N

Horizontal component of force(Normal reaction) :

mg\ cos\ \theta =  120\times 10 \times cos\ 47^\circ{}=818.40 \ N

Since, box is on the verge of slipping :

mg\ sin\ \theta= \mu(mg \ cos\ \theta)\\\\\mu = tan \ \theta\\\\\mu = tan\ 47^o\\\\\mu = 1.07

Therefore, the coefficient of static friction between the box and the plane is 1.07.

Hence, this is the required solution.

We are given the description of an enclosure that has fencing on 3 sides and can use 3,056 yards of fencing. We are to find the
shusha [124]

Answer:

The sum of the lengths of the sides is 2292 yards and the sum of the lengths of the triangle is 3056 yards

Explanation:

Since y represents the length of fence that is opposite (parallel) to the river and x represent the length of fence perpendicular to the river.

Therefore since we can use 3,056 yards of fencing

Side perpendicular to the river = x and,

Side opposite to the river = y = 3056 - 2x

The area of the rectangle formed (A) = Perpendicular side × Parallel side

∴ A = x(3056 - 2x) = 3056x - 2x²

A = 3056x - 2x²

To maximize the area, A' (dA/dx) = 0

∴ A' = 3056 - 4x = 0

3056 - 4x = 0

4x = 3056

x = 764 yards

y =  3056 - 2x = 3056 - 2(764) = 1528 yards.

Side perpendicular to the river = 764 yards and,

Side opposite to the river = 1528 yards

The sum of the lengths of the sides = 764 + 1528 = 2292 yard and the sum of the lengths of the triangle = 764 + 764 + 1528 = 3056 yards
