Tarzan, in one tree, sights Jane in another tree. He grabs the end of a vine with length 20 m that makes an angle of 45 degrees

with the vertical, steps off his tree limb, and swings down and then up to Jane's open arms. When he arrives, his vine makes an angle of 30 degrees with the vertical. Calculate Tarzan's speed just before he reaches Jane. You can ignore air resistance and the mass of the vine.

Answer:

v = 7.9 m/s

Explanation:

length of the vine (L) = 20 m

initial angle with the vertical = 45 degrees

final angle with the vertical = 30 degrees

acceleration due to gravity (g) = 9.8 m/s^{2}

speed (v) =?

to solve this problem we can apply the equation below:

loss in potential energy = gain in kinetic energy

m x g x h = 1/2 x m x v^{2}

v = \sqrt{2gh}

before we can apply the above we need to get our height

height = initial vertical height - final vertical height

height = (L - L cosθ2) -  (L - L cosθ1)

height = (20 - 20cos45) - (20 - 20cos30) = 3.2 m

v = \sqrt{2 x 9.8 x 3.2}

v = 7.9 m/s

How much heat is needed to change the temperature of 3 grams of gold (c = 0.129 ) from 21°C to 363°C? The answer is expressed to
Temka [501]

Q= mcΔT

Where Q is heat or energy

M is mass, c is heat capacitance and t is temperature

You have to convert Celsius into kelvin in order to use this formula I believe

Celsius + 273 = Kelvin

21 + 273 = 294K

363 + 273 = 636K

Now...

Q= (0.003)(0.129)(636-294)

Q= 0.132 J if you are using kilograms, in terms of grams which seems more appropriate the answer would be 132J of energy.

How much work is required to move
Nikitich [7]
The work is path independent since we have a conservative force.

Thus W=d\cdot\frac{q\cdot U}{d^2}=\frac{3.0\cdot9.0}{0.010}=\boxed{2700 J}

2. Light waves of the wavelength of 650 nm and 500 nm produce interference fringes on a screen at a distance of 1m from a double
satela [25.4K]

Answer:

least distance= 13mm

ratio of the lattice = 1 : 0.71 : 0.58

Explanation:

given λ₁ = 650nm = 650×10⁻⁹m,  λ₂ = 500nm = 500×10⁻⁹m
