The answer is sublimation.

Sublimation is the chemical process whereby a solid turns into a gas without first becoming a liquid.

The word sublimation comes from the Latin word sublimare which means "raised to a higher status."

Examples of sublimation include surface layer of snow and ice turning into steam or fog without melting and  dry ice which is the solid form of carbon dioxide  which also undergoes sublimation.

The low temperature and sublimation makes dry ice an effective coolant or cooling agent . One of its main advantages is that it has a lower temperature than water ice and also does not leave any residue.

The density of the hydrocarbon in part (a) is 2.0 g l-1 at 50°c and 0.948atm. (i) calculate the molar mass of the hydrocarbon. (
Vedmedyk [2.9K]

1. Answer;

=56 g/mol

Explanation and solution;

PV = nRT

nRT= mass/molar mass (RT)

molar mass = (mass/V ) × (RT/P)

                   = Density × (RT/P)

Molar mass = 2.0 g/L × (0.0821 × 323 K)/0.948 atm

Molar mass = 56 g/mol

2. Answer;

Molecular mass is C4H8

Explanation;

Empirical mass × n = molar mass

Empirical mass for CH2 = 14 g/mol

Therefore;

56 g/mol = 14 g/mol × n

   n = 4

The molecular formula= 4(CH2)

    = C4H8

scientific description about the pizza dough doubles its size when it is placed in a warm place . how does this happen
Marina CMI [18]
Answer is: because carbon(IV) oxide is released.
For example if baking soda is used for <span>the pizza dough, than on heat carbon(IV) oxide is product of chemical reaction:
2NaHCO</span>₃ → Na₂CO₃ + CO₂ + H₂O.
If we use yeast (<span>single-celled microorganism)</span>, also carbon(IV) oxide produced, because yeast turns sugars into carbon(IV) oxide.
