You are driving down the road heading north at 15 m/s. An ambulance is driving in the opposite direction (south) towards you at

25 m/s. If the ambulance's siren emits sound at a frequency of 2 kHz, what frequency do you hear? Assume that the speed of sound is 340 m/s. a. 1780 Hz b. 1945 Hz c. 2254 Hz d. 2063 Hz e. 2000 Hz

Answer:

d. 2063 Hz

Explanation:

Given that the source of the sound (the ambulance) is heading towards the observer, we have;

fL= (v ± vL/v ± vS) fS

Where;

v = speed of sound = 340 m/s

vL = velocity of the listener = 15 m/s

vS = velocity of the source = 25 m/s

fS = frequency of source = 2 kHz

Since the source is moving towards the observer we subtract;

Substituting values;

fL = (340 - 15/340 - 25)2 *10^3

fL = 2063Hz

The speed of light is about 300,000 km/s (3×105km/s). If Jupiter is 0.72 light hours from the Sun, how far is this?
Daniel [21]

Answer:

7.77 x 10⁸ Km

Explanation:

given,

Speed of light = 3 x 10⁵ Km/s

                        = 3 x 10⁸ m/s

1 light hour = 1.079 x 10⁹ Km

now,

0.72 light hour = 0.72 x 1.079 x 10⁹ Km

                         = 0.7769 x 10⁹ Km

                         = 7.77 x 10⁸ Km

The Jupiter is 7.77 x 10⁸ Km far from sun.

goblinko [34]

Answer:

v = 2.974

Explanation:

Perhaps the formula should be

v = √(2*g*d (sin(θ) - uk*cos(θ) )                    This is a bit easier to read.

v = √(2* 9.80*0.725(0.707 - 0.12*0.707) )   Substitute values. Find 2*g*d

v = √14.21 * (0.707 - 0.0849)                        Figure out Sin(θ) - uk cos(θ)

v = √14.21 * (0.6222)

v = √8.8422                                                  Take the square root of the value

v = 2.974

Bacteria provides a valuable clue to the origin of life on Earth. Which of these is the most likely process by which bacteria wa
mezya [45]
The appropriate answer is d. chemical transformation of non living matter. Scientists believe that life originated on earth when the conditions present led to the formation of chemicals that contain carbon, nitrogen and oxygen. These are the primary components of organic matter and consequently all living things. Inorganic matter in ancient oceans could have been transformed into amino acids by complex reactions involving extreme heat or lightening.

If there is "waste" energy, does the Law of Conservation of Energy still apply? please don't type something random if so i'll ju
FinnZ [79.3K]

Explanation:

Yes, the law of conservation of energy still applies even if there is waste energy.

The waste energy are the transformation products of energy from one form to another.

According to the law of conservation of energy "energy is neither created nor destroyed by transformed from one form to another in a system".

But of then times, energy is lost as heat or sound within a system.

  • If we take into account these waste energy, we can see that energy is indeed conserved.
  • The sum total of the energy generated and those produced will be the same if we factor in other forms in which the energy has been transformed into.

A population has a birthrate of 10/1000 , a death rate of 9/1000, an immigration rate of 3/1000, and an emigration rate of 7/100
Charra [1.4K]

Birth rate 10/1000 = +population

Death rate 9/1000 = -population

Immigration rate 3/1000 = +population

Emigration rate 7/1000 = -population

10/1000 - 9/1000 + 3/1000 - 7/1000= -3/1000

Growth rate = (-3/1000)(100%)= -0.3%
