The element has :

 • core electrons : 10
 • valence electron : 5

Further explanation

Valence electrons : electrons used in forming bonds (the outer shell)

Core electrons : electrons that belong to atoms except for valence electrons. It is located close to the core and fills the inner shell.

Electron configurations for an element with the atomic number: 15 1s²2s²2p⁶3s²3p³

Neutral atoms ⇒ atomic number= number of protons=number of electrons

The electron configuration shows that the valence electron of the element = 5(3s²3p³) so the number of Core electrons:

Core electron = atomic number (total number of electrons) - valence electron

Core electron = 15 - 15

Core electron = 10

Nina [5.8K]
Molar mass Mg = 24.3 g/mol

1 mole mg ------------ 24.3 g
?? moles mg --------- 4.75 g

4.75 x 1 / 24.3 => 0.195 moles of Mg

hope this helps!

3. What noble gas would be part of the electron configuration notation for Mn?
shusha [124]

Answer:

Argon {Ar}

Explanation:

The noble gas used for a condensed electron configuration is the one before the element which you are configuring.

In this case, the element (Mn) is manganese

The noble gas that is before this element is Argon which is the row above it

so your configuration would be {Ar} 3d^5 4s^2
