Solution :

From the given data,

For the spherical shell is $\frac{k^2}{R^2}= \frac{2}{3}$

where x is the radius of gyration and the acceleration of a rolling body on an inclined plane = a

Therefore,

$a =\frac{g \sin \theta}{1+ \frac{k^2}{R^2}} $

  $= \frac{g \sin \theta}{1 +\frac{2}{3}}$

  $= \frac{3}{5} g \sin \theta$

  = 0.6 x 9.81 x sin ( 29.7)

  $= 2.913 \ m/s^2$

$h = \frac{1}{2} a(\Delta t)^2$

$\Delta t = \sqrt{\frac{2h}{a}}$

$\Delta t = \sqrt{\frac{2 \times 2.9}{2.913}}$

Δt = 1.411 s

A force of 14 lb is required to hold a spring stretched 4 in. beyond its natural length. How much work W is done in stretching i
enyata [817]

Answer:

W = 19.8 J

Explanation:

14 lb force is required to stretch the spring by 4 inch distance

So we have

F = 14 lbf

F = 6.35 \times 9.8 N

F = 62.3 N

stretch in the spring is given as

x = 4 in = 0.1016 m

now we will have

F = kx

62.3 = k(0.1016)

k = 613.125 N/m

Now we need to find the work to stretch it by x = 10 in = 0.254 m

so we have

W = \frac{1}{2}kx^2

W = \frac{1}{2}(613.125)(0.254)^2

W = 19.8 J

In the following three scenarios, I do not understand one thing: how do we know that the initial velocity of the y component (vy
forsale [732]

The y-component of the initial velocity vector is zero only in scenarios A and C. The weight/package on either plane inherits a non-zero x-component that matches the plane's horizontal velocity, but with respect to the vertical direction the objects are at rest, and dropping them from a given height doesn't confer them an initial vertical velocity. On the other hand, if the object was thrown upward and allowed to fall, or shot downward by a cannon, then the initial vertical velocity would be non-zero.

In scenario B, the dolphin must have some non-zero y-component of velocity in order to launch itself out of the water, because otherwise it would stay at a fixed depth.
