The question is incomplete. The complete question is :

A mass is attached to the end of a spring and set into oscillation on a horizontal frictionless surface by releasing it from a compressed position. The record of time is started when the oscillating mass first passes through the equilibrium position, and the position of the mass at any time is described by x = (4.7 cm)sin[(7.9 rad/s)πt].

Determine the following:

(a) frequency of the motion

(b) period of the motion

(c) amplitude of the motion

(d) first time after t = 0  that the object reaches the position x = 2.6 cm

Solution :

Given equation : x = (4.7 cm)sin[(7.9 rad/s)πt].

Comparing it with the general equation of simple harmonic motion,

 x = A sin (ωt + Φ)

  A = 4.7 cm

  ω = 7.9 π

a). Therefore, frequency, $f=\frac{\omega}{2 \pi}$

                                             $=\frac{7.9 \pi}{2 \pi}$

                                             = 3.95 Hz

b). The period, $T=\frac{1}{f}$

                        $T=\frac{1}{3.95}

                            = 0.253 seconds

c). Amplitude is A = 4.7 cm

d). We have,

    x = A sin (ωt + Φ)

    $x_t=4.7 \sin (7.9 \pi t)$

    $2.6 = 4.7 \sin (7.9 \pi t)$

     $\sin (7.9 \pi t) = \frac{26}{47}$

     $7.9 \pi t = \sin^{-1}\left(\frac{26}{47}\right)$

          Hence, t = 0.0236 seconds.

A toy friction car is propelled forward from rest by a girl's hand which causes it to reach a forward velocity of 3.5m/s in 0.4
alisha [4.7K]

Answer:

a)  Acceleration = 8.75m/s^2

b) Slow down acceleration = 0.625m/s^2

c) Car travels 9.8 m

Explanation:

  Acceleration = Change in velocity/Time

a) Change in velocity = 3.5-0 = 3.5 m/s

   Time = 0.4 seconds

    Acceleration = 3.5/0.4=8.75m/s^2

b) Change in velocity = 0 - 3.5 = -3.5 m/s

   Time = 5.6 seconds

   Acceleration = -3.5/5.6=-0.625m/s^2

   Slow down acceleration = 0.625m/s^2

c) We have equation of motion, v^2=u^2+2as, where u is the initial velocity, u is the final velocity, s is the displacement and a is the acceleration.

 Here v = 0 m/s, u = 3.5 m/s, a = -0.625m/s^2

 Substituting

    0^2=3.5^2-2*0.625*s\\ \\ s=9.8m

  So, car travels 9.8 m

A force is applied to a 2.8 kg mass and produces 3.9 m/s 2 acceleration. what acceleration would be produced by the same force a
OverLord2011 [107]
Force applied on first mass = 2.8×3.9 = 10.92N
same force = 8.2×a
therefore
a = 10.92÷8.2 = 1.33ms-²

If the force is 4 newtons between two charged spheres separated by 3 centimeters, calculate the force between the same spheres s
il63 [147K]

Answer:

1 Newton

Explanation:

F=9*10^9*q0q1/r^2]]

F=9*10^9*(q0q1)/ r^2

r=3cm

F=4N

F=9*10^9*(q0q1)/3^2

4=9*10^9*(q0q1)/9

4=10^9 q0q1

q0q1=4/10^9

q0q1=4*10^-9

To calculate the force between the forces at a distance of 6 cm

F=9*10^9*(q0q1)/ r^2

=9*10^9*(4*10^-9)/6^2

=9*10^9*(4*10^-9)/36

=10^9*4*10^-9/4

=10^9*10^-9

=1 Newton
