Sawing the piece of wood in half is a physical change,
because no new substances are formed that weren't there
before the sawing.

Burning wood produces carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide
that weren't there before the burning. That's a chemical change.

Rust forming on iron is iron oxide that wasn't there before the
rusting. That's a chemical change.

The green that appears on copper is copper oxide that wasn't
there before the green appeared. That's a chemical change.

A penny is dropped from the Statue of Liberty
Brrunno [24]

Answer:

a) The velocity is 2.94m/s

b) 0.441

Explanation:

a) Assume gravity is 9.8m/s^2

Use the equation below to solve for the velocity at 0.30 seconds

vf=vi+at,

vf =unknown velocity vi= initial velocity vi=0m/s a= 9.8m/s^2 t=0.30seconds

Step 1: Substitute the variables with the knowns

vf=0m/s+(9.8m/s^2)*0.30seconds

Step 2: Solve

vf=2.94m/s

b)

Use the equation below to solve for the displacement at 0.30 seconds

x=vit+\frac{1}{2} at^{2}

Step 1: Substitute the same variables with the knowns

x=\frac{1}{2}*(9.8m/s^2)*(0.30seconds)^{2}

Note that vi*t=0 as vi=0m/s

Step 2: Solve

x=0.441m

A particle moving at speed 0. 32 c has momentum p0. the speed of the particle is increased to 0. 72 c. what is its momentum now?
Semenov [28]

A particle moving at speed 0.32 c has momentum P₀. the speed of the particle is increased to 0.72 c then its momentum would be 2.25P₀.

What is momentum?

It can be defined as the product of the mass and the speed of the particle, it represents the combined effect of mass and the speed of any particle, and the momentum of any particle is expressed in Kg m/s unit.

Mathematically the formula of the momentum is

P = mv

where P is the momentum of the particle

m is the mass of the particle

v is the velocity by which the particle is moving

As given in the question a particle moving at speed 0.32 c has momentum P₀. the speed of the particle is increased to 0.72 c

by using the formula of the momentum and substituting the values of the velocity

P =mv

As mentioned in the question when the particle is moving with 0.32c velocity it has a momentum of P₀

P₀ = m*(0.32c)

If the speed of the particle is increased to 0.72 c the momentum would be

P=m*(0.72c)

by dividing the second equation from the first one

P₀/P = 0.32c/0.72c

P₀/P = 0.44

P =2.25P₀

Thus, the increased momentum of the particle would be 2.25P₀

If the formation of a neutron star leads to a supernova explosion, explain why only three of the hundreds of known pulsars are f
Mandarinka [93]

Explanation:

neutron stars have diameters of about 20km and they are denser than the earth. A rotating neutron star pulsating electromagnetic beam is a named a pulsars but not all neutron stars are pulsars.

Only three of hundreds of known pulsar are found in supernova remnants because as neutron stars gets older, they lose energy and starts to decrease their rotational speeds and the neutron star could not radiate particles and energy for long as a pulsar does. there are less existing pulsars compared to supernova explosion rate because the life time of pulsars is obout 10×10^6 years after the neutron can no longer spin at high speeds to produce beams of particles and energy, almost all the pulsars are older and spin slow to produce light of visible wavelength or X-ray wavelengths and we only get a pulse of radiation from a neutron star as a pulsar as the beam sweeps over earth.
