Sawing the piece of wood in half is a physical change,
because no new substances are formed that weren't there
before the sawing.

Burning wood produces carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide
that weren't there before the burning.  That's a chemical change.

Rust forming on iron is iron oxide that wasn't there before the
rusting.  That's a chemical change.

The green that appears on copper is copper oxide that wasn't
there before the green appeared.  That's a chemical change.

Which wave lies adjacent to the low frequency portion of the visible spectrum
fgiga [73]

Answer: b. infrared

Explanation:

The visible light with the smaller frequency is associated with the color red.

While the blue is the one with the larger frequency.

Now, as the name says, infrared waves are the ones with a frequency just below the one of the red visible light.

Where the frequency of the red light is something around (4.3*10^14 Hz)

and the frequency of the infrared waves is in the range between (10^12 Hz and 10^14 Hz)

Then the correct option is b, infrared.

Emissions from alpha decay require the least amount of shielding.
just olya [345]

The particles released during alpha decay are called alpha particles. Alpha particles have greater mass and charge than other emitted particles.

  • Radioactive emissions are the transfer of energy through the flow of particles or waves in a medium
  • There are 3 types of radioactive emissions which are alpha, beta and gamma
  • In alpha radiation, the nucleus emits an alpha particle which is equivalent to a helium nucleus
  • In beta radiation, an electron is emitted to convert a neutron to a proton
  • In gamma radiation, the nucleus just loses energy

Since alpha particles have more mass and charge, they are more ionising and lose more energy at a faster rate and can be blocked easily.
