A standard 1 kilogram weight is a cylinder 54.0 mm in height and 55.0 mm in diameter. what is the density of the material

Physics

denis-greek [22]3 years ago

The radius of the cylinder is equal to half the diameter:

r=\frac{d}{2}=\frac{55.0 mm}{2}=27.5 mm

The volume of the cylinder is given by:

V=\pi r^2 h=\pi (27.5 mm)^2 (54.0 mm)=1.28 \cdot 10^5 mm^3

where h is the heigth of the cylinder. Converting into meters,

V=1.28 \cdot 10^{-4} m^3

And the density of the material will be given by the ratio between the mass and the volume:

d=\frac{m}{V}=\frac{1 kg}{1.28 \cdot 10^{-4} m^3}=7812.5 kg/m^3

A positive charge and a negative charge held a certain distance apart are released. as they move, the force on each particle:___
iVinArrow [24]

A positive charge and a negative charge held a certain distance apart are released. as they move, the force on each particle increases

The most common charge carriers are the positively charged proton and the negatively charged electron. The movement of any of these charged particles constitutes an electric current

<h3>What is a Charge ?</h3>

When there are more or fewer protons in an atom than electrons, the substance has an electric charge. Protons have a positive charge, while electrons have a negative charge. If a substance has more protons than electrons, it is positively charged; if it has more electrons, it is negatively charged.

  • The SI units for charge are ampere-second or coulomb. When one ampere of electric current goes through the conductor for one second, one coulomb of charge passes through it. Charge is denoted by the formula Q = I t.

The 4kg head of a sledge hammer is moving at 6m/s when it strikes a chisel, driving it into a log. The duration of the impact (o
LUCKY_DIMON [66]

Answer:

The average impact force is 12000 newtons.

Explanation:

By Impact Theorem we know that impact done by the sledge hammer on the chisel is equal to the change in the linear momentum of the former. The mathematical model that represents the situation is now described:

\bar F \cdot \Delta t = m \cdot  (v_{2}-v_{1}) (1)

Where:

\bar F - Average impact force, in newtons.

\Delta t - Duration of the impact, in seconds.

m - Mass of the sledge hammer, in kilograms.

v_{1}, v_{2} - Initial and final velocity, in meters per second.

If we know that \Delta t = 0.0020\,s, m = 4\,kg, v_{1} = -6\,\frac{m}{s} and v_{2} = 0\,\frac{m}{s}, then we estimate the average impact force is:

\bar F = \frac{m\cdot  (v_{2}-v_{1})}{\Delta t}

\bar F = 12000\,N

The average impact force is 12000 newtons.

How is light being described?
Slav-nsk [51]
Light is described as both wave as well particle because light behave as wave in phenomenon like diffraction, interference, refraction, Doppler effect, etc whereas it behave as a particle in phenomenon like photoelectric effect, etc. Hope this helps.
