When the liquid line is restricted, the supply of refrigerant to the metering device is reduced. What is the effect on suction p
Nimfa-mama [501]

Answer:

The suction pressure decreases and the superheat increases when the liquid line is restricted and the supply of refrigerant to the metering device is reduced.

Explanation:

1. The five components of refrigeration are:

  • Fluid refrigerant
  • Compressor
  • Condenser coil
  • Evaporator coil
  • Expansion device.

       The compressor limits the vapor released by the refrigerant. This

       causes a rise in pressure (in refrigerant), which then pushes the

       vapor into the coils on the outside of the refrigerator.

2. Now when the cooler air meets the warm gas present in the coils, it

   gets converted into liquid form.

3. Thus, when the liquid form is at high pressure, the refrigerant then

   cools down as it flows through the coils placed in the fridge ( in both

   freezing and normal sections).

4. The refrigerant also absorbs the warm air present in the fridge, which

   causes it to evaporate and flow back through the compressor and the

   cycle repeats in the same form.

Thus, when the liquid line is restricted and the supply of refrigerant to the metering device is reduced it causes a decrease in suction pressure and an increase in superheat.

Why does it seem harder to start sliding a couch across a carpeted floor than it oes to keep it moving?
svetlana [45]
When you start sliding the couch, you have to overcome the static friction of the carpeted floor, which is usually very big, especially due to the texture of the carpet. However, as long as you get it moving, you only have to apply the force to overcome the kinetic friction, which is smaller than the static friction.

A 10 kg ball is traveling at the same speed as a 1 kg ball. Compared to the 10 kg ball, the 1 kg ball has
Colt1911 [192]
We can compare the two by their kinetic energies. The kinetic energy is the energy when an object is in motion. It is expressed as the product of the mass of the object and the square of the velocity divided by two. We assume a velocity of 1 m/s for this problem.

KE = mv^2/2
KE1 = 10 (1)^2
KE1 = 10 J

KE2 = 1(1)^2
KE2 = 1 J

Therefore, compared to the 10 kg ball, the 1 kg ball has lesser kinetic energy.
