Consider a hypothetical metal that has a density of 11.6 g/cm3, an atomic weight of 157.6 g/mol, and an atomic radius of 0.127 n

m. Compute the atomic packing factor if the unit cell has tetragonal symmetry; values for the and lattice parameters are 0.523 nm and 0.330 nm, respectively.

Answer:

APF(atomic packing factor)=0.31736

Explanation:

From the question we are told that

Density of metal \rho=11.6 g/cm3

Atomic weight of W=157.6 g/mol

Atomic radius of r= 0.127 nm

Lattice parameters=>x=0.523nm  and y=0.330 nm

Generally the equation for atomic packing factor is mathematically given as

APF(atomic packing factor)=\frac{Spere's\ volume}{unit\ cell\ volume}

APF(atomic packing factor)=\frac{N*VN}{VC}

Generally the equation for number of atoms N is mathematically given as

N=\frac{\rho }{atomic raduis*Avacados constant}

N=\frac{11.6 }{0.127*10^{-9}*6.02214086*10^{23} mol-1}

N=4

Therefore APF(atomic packing factor)

APF(atomic packing factor)=\frac{N*VN}{VC}

APF(atomic packing factor)=\frac{4*\frac{4}{3} \pi (0.127)^3}{(0.523)^2 *0.330}

APF(atomic packing factor)=0.31736

MatroZZZ [7]
Chemistry is the study of the composition of matter and the ways in which matter interacts, combines, and changes under certain conditions.  Although not as fundamental as physics, chemistry is a very basic and broad science.  It helps us explain bodily interactions and natural process (biochemistry), it helps us to manufacture new medications, and true chemistry research will always follow the scientific method.

Ksenya-84 [330]

Answer:

Explanation:

a. the salt produced would be Mg3N2(magnesium nitride)

b. magnesium loses 2 electron to form Mg2+ ion and nitrogen gains 3 electron to form n3-

when several of these ions come together 3 Mg2+ ion combine with 2 n3- ion to form Mg3N2 thus Mg getting six electron from nitrogen to form a ionic bond.

c. the reaction is not balanced Mg + N2 = Mg3n2

to make it balanced the reaction should be 3 Mg + N2 = Mg3N2.

the reaction was not balanced before because the number of Mg on both side of the reaction was not equal.

d. magnesium nitrate has formula Mg(NO3)2 is formed when Mg combines with nitrogen and oxygen Mg + N2 + o2

CdF2(s)⇄Cd2+(aq)+2F−(aq)A saturated aqueous solution of CdF2 is prepared. The equilibrium in the solution is represented above.
kupik [55]

Answer:

The correct answer is option a.

Explanation:

CdF_2(s)\rightleftharpoons Cd^{2+}(aq)+2F^-(aq)

Equilibrium concentration cadmium ions = [Cd^{2+}]=0.0585 M

Equilibrium concentration fluoride ions = [F^{-}]=0.117 M

Molar solubility is the maximum concentration of salt present in water in ionic form beyond that no more salt will exist in its ionic form and will settle down in bottom of the solution.

The molar solubility of the solid cadmium fluoride = 0.0585 M

CdF_2(s)\rightleftharpoons Cd^{2+}(aq)+2F^-(aq)..[1]

NaF(s)\rightleftharpoons Na^{+}(aq)+F^-(aq)

Due to addition of sodium fluoride will increase concentration of fluoride in the solution.And due to common ion effect the equilibrium will shift in backward direction in [1], that is precipitation of more cadmium fluoride.

Hence, decrease in solubility will be observed.

How many formula units of sodium chloride (NaCl) may theoretically be produced from 13.0 g FeCl3?
algol [13]

Answer:

1.445\times 10^{23} formula units of sodium chloride can be formed from 13.0 gram of ferric chloride.

Explanation:

Mass of ferric chloride = 13.0 g

Moles of ferric chloride = \frac{13.0 g}{162.5 g/mol}=0.08 mol

1 mole of ferric chloride has three moles of chloride ions.Then 0.08 moles of ferric chloride will have :

3\times 0.08 mol=0.24 mol of chloride

Na^++Cl^-\rightarrow NaCl

1 mole of sodium ion reacts with 1 mole of chloride ion to form 1 mole of NaCl. Then 0.24 moles of chloride ion will give:

\frac{1}{1}\times 0.24 mol=0.24 mol of NaCl

1 mole = N_A=6.022\times 10^{23} molecules/ atoms

Number of NaCl molecules in 0.24 moles :

=6.022\times 10^{23}\times 0.24=1.445\times 10^{23} molecules

1.445\times 10^{23} formula units of sodium chloride can be formed from 13.0 gram of ferric chloride.
