Scientists study fossils of plants, animals, and other organisms in order to better understand what life was like on Earth many years ago and how it has changed over time. Fossils are important evidence for the theory of evolution.

Why does the emission of an alpha particle always result in transmutation?
prohojiy [21]

Explanation:

some radioactive isotope are present as terrestrial radiation other radioactive isotope are produced by humans via nuclear reactions which is result in unstable combination of neutrons and proton one way of artificially inducing nuclear transmutation is by bombarding stable isotopes with alpha particles

On your first day at work as an electrical technician, you are asked to determine the resistance per meter of a long piece of wi
Lostsunrise [7]

Answer:

0.06\Omega/m

Explanation:

Firstly, when you measure the voltage across the battery, you get the emf,

E = 13.0 V

In order to proceed we have to assume that the voltmeter offers no loading effect, which is a valid assumption since it has a very high resistance.

Secondly, the wires must be uniform. So the resistance per unit length is constant (say z). Now, even though the ammeter has very little resistance it cannot be ignored as it must be of comparable value/magnitude when compared to the wires. This is can seen in the two cases when currents were measured. Following Ohm's law and the resistance of a length of wire being proportional to it's length, we should have gotten half the current when measuring with the 40 m wire with respect to the 20 m wire (I=\frac{V}{R}). But this is not the case.

Let the resistance of the ammeter be r

Hence, using Ohm's law we get the following 2 equations:

\frac{13}{20z+r} =7.6   .......(1)

\frac{13}{40z+r} =4.5     ......(2)

Substituting the value of r from (2) in (1), we have,

13=152z+7.6\times\frac{13-180z}{4.5}

which simplifying gives us, z=0.0589\Omega/m\approx0.06\Omega/m (which is our required solution)

putting the value of z in either (1) or (2) gives us, r = 0.5325 \Omega

What is the speed of a wave frequency of 300hz and a wavelength of 25M
tia_tia [17]

Answer:

7500 m/s

Explanation:

We can use the equation velocity of a wave equals wavelength times  frequency.  Therefore, v = wavelength*f = (25 m)(300 Hz) =  m/s7,500

It is found experimentally that the electric field in a certain region of Earth's atmosphere is directed vertically down. At an
Lemur [1.5K]

Answer:

q=1.7346×10⁻⁶C

Explanation:

Since the electric field is perpendicular to the bottom and top of the cube,the total flux is equals the flux over the top of surface plus the flex over the lower surface

Ф(total)=Ф₃₀₀+Ф₂₃₀

But the flux is given by  Ф=E.A=EACos(θ) where θ is the angle between Area vector and electric field

So

Ф(total)=E₃₀₀A Cos(180)+E₂₃₀ACos(0)

Ф(total)=A(E₃₀₀ - E₂₃₀)

The total flux is given by Gauss Law as:

Ф(total)=q/ε₀

q=ε₀Ф(total)

q=ε₀(A(E₃₀₀ - E₂₃₀))

Substitute the given values

q=(8.85×10⁻¹²){(70²)(100 - 60)}

q=1.7346×10⁻⁶C
