Answer: 5.91kw

Explanation:

given data:

power = 65kw

voltage stepped up = 120v t0 1200

R 0.100

<u>Solution:</u>

when the it is stepped to 120v

P = VI \\65000/ 120I\\ I = 541.7A\\

power loss

(I^{2} )R*2\\= (541.7^{2})0.100*2\\= 58536.2w

when it is stepped to 1200v

\frac{65000}{1200} \\ I = 54.17A\

(I^{2} )R*2\\= (54.17^{2})0.100*2\\= 586.9w

total power saved

= 65kw - 58.5kw - 0.59kw\\= 5.91kw

When jumping straight down, you can be seriously injured if you land stiff-legged. One way to avoid injury is to bend your knees
Naya [18.7K]

Answer:

a)  F = 1.26 10⁵ N,  b)  F = 2.255 10³ N, c)   F_ {soil} = 3078 N

Explanation:

For this exercise we will use the relationship between momentum and moment

          I = Δp

          F t = p_f -p₀

a) with stiff legs, final speed is zero, initial velocity is down

         Ft = 0-p₀

         F =  m v / t

let's calculate

         F = 84.0 6.82 / 4.56 10⁻³

         F = 1.26 10⁵ N

b) bending the legs

let's calculate

         F = 84.0 6.82 / 0.254

         F = 2.255 10³ N

c) It is requested to calculate the force of the ground on the man

            ∑ F = F_soil -W

           F_soil = F + W

           F_ {soil} = 2.255 103 + 84 9.8

           F_ {soil} = 3078 N

Questions to consider:
Margaret [11]

Answer: 2352 J

Explanation:

A body's<u> gravitational potential energy</u> U depends on its position and is mathematically expressed as follows:

U=mgh

Where:

m=60 kg is the mass of the skater

g=9.8 m/s^{2} is the acceleration due gravity

h=4 m is the skater's current height

Solving:

U=(60 kg)(9.8 m/s^{2})(4 m)

U=2352 J

A thin stream of water flows smoothly from a faucet and falls straight down. At one point the water is flowing at a speed of v1
MrRa [10]

Answer:

The vertical distance between these two points is 12.28 cm.

Explanation:

Given that,

Speed of water = 1.23 m/s

Diameter at lower point d'= 0.787 d

We need to calculate the speed of water

Using continuity equation

A_{1}v_{1}=A_{2}v_{2}

\dfrac{\pi\times d^2}{4}v_{1}=\dfrac{\pi\times d'^2}{4}v_{2}

v_{2}=v_{1}\times(\dfrac{d}{d'})^2

Put the value into the formula

v_{2}=1.23\times(\dfrac{d}{0.787d})^2

v_{2}=1.98\ m/s

We need to calculate the  vertical distance h between these two points

Using Bernoulli theorem

P_{1}+\dfrac{1}{2}\rho v_{1}^2+\rho gh_{1}=P_{2}+\dfrac{1}{2}\rho v_{2}^2+\rho gh_{2}

Here, P₁ = P₂ = atmosphere pressure is same because both end is open

\dfrac{1}{2}\rho(v_{2}^2-v_{1}^2)=\rho\times g(h_{1}-h_{2})

(v_{2}^2-v_{1}^2)=2g(h_{1}-h_{2})

2g\times\Delta h=(v_{2}^2-v_{1}^2)

\Delta h=\dfrac{1.98^2-1.23^2}{2\times9.8}

\Delta h=12.28\ cm

Hence, The vertical distance between these two points is 12.28 cm.
