Answer: Although the best-known cause of a mass extinction is the asteroid impact that killed off the non-avian dinosaurs, in fact, volcanic activity seems to have wreaked much more havoc on Earth's biota. Volcanic activity is implicated in at least four mass extinctions, while an asteroid is a suspect in just one. Examples, of mass extinctions are Permian extinction of marine species, and Cretaceous extinction of various species, including dinosaurs.

a 125g bar of aluminum at 22 degrees celsius. determine the final temperature of the aluminum, if the amount of energy applied i
____ [38]

Answer : The final temperature of the aluminum is, 155.9^oC

Explanation :

Formula used :

q=m\times c\times (T_{final}-T_{initial})

where,

q = heat = 3600 cal = 15062.4 J    (1 cal = 4.184 J)

m = mass of aluminum = 125 g

c = specific heat of aluminum = 0.90J/g^oC

T_{final} = final temperature = ?

T_{initial} = initial temperature = 22^oC

Now put all the given values in the above formula, we get:

15062.4J=125g\times 0.90J/g^oC\times (T_{final}-22)^oC

T_{final}=155.9^oC

Thus, the final temperature of the aluminum is, 155.9^oC

The different types of mining are underground, surface, placer, and in-situ. Underground mining uses various materials to excavate resources from beneath the surface of the Earth. Surface mining is a category of mining that in which soil and rock overlying the mineral deposit are removed. Placer mining is the mining of stream bed deposits for minerals. In-situ mining is a mining process used to recover minerals such as copper and uranium through boreholes drilled into a deposit.

What is the mass of 22.4 L of H2O at STP?
Andrew [12]
Answer is: A. 18.02 g/mol.

At standard temperature and pressure 1 mol of gas occupied 22.4 liters:
V(H₂O) = 22.4 L; volume of water.
Vm = 22.4 L/mol; molar volume at STP.
n(H₂O) = V ÷ Vm.
n(H₂O) = 22.4 L ÷ 22.4 L/mol.
n(H₂O) = 1 mol; amount of substance (water).
M(H₂O) = Ar(O) + 2Ar(H) · g/mol.
M(H₂O) = 16 + 2 ·1.01 · g/mol.
M(H₂O) = 18.02 g/mol; molar mass of water.
