The element found in the liver that helps prevent anemia is iron.

Iron is an essential element for blood production. Close to 70% of the body's iron is found in the red blood cells. In the red blood cells it is a vital ingredient of hemoglobin, the red pigment that gives blood its red color. In the muscle cells, iron is found as myoglobin.

Iron is stored mostly in the liver as ferritin or hemosiderin.

When iron stores are finished or exhausted, the condition is called iron depletion. When the shortage of iron is severe, it results in a condition known as iron deficiency anemia whereby the red blood cells do not have enough hemoglobin.

What is not represented by a balanced chemical equation?
astraxan [27]

Answer is: 4) The same subscripts are on each side of the equation.

For example, balanced chemical reaction:

2Mg + O₂ → 2MgO.

1) The same number of atoms is on each side of the equation: two magnesium atoms and two oxgen atoms.

2) The formulas for all substances are correct: in magnesium oxide (MgO), magnesium has oxidation number +2 and oxygen -2, so formula is good, because compound must be neutral.

3) The same mass is represented on each side of the equation: because there is same number of atoms, the mass is the same.

4) The same subscripts are on each side of the equation: oxygen does not have same subscripts.

If aqueous solutions of sodium chloride and mercury(I) nitrate are mixed, which insoluble precipitate is formed?
NeX [460]

Answer:

Hg2^2+(aq) + 2Cl^-(aq) —> Hg2Cl2(s)

Explanation:

The balanced equation for the reaction is given below:

2NaCl(aq) + Hg2(NO3)2(aq) —> 2NaNO3(aq) + Hg2Cl2(s)

Considering the states of each compound in the reaction, we can see that Hg2Cl2 is in solid form meaning it will precipitate out of the solution

In solution the following occurs:

NaCl —> Na+(aq) + Cl-(aq)

Hg2(NO3)2 —> Hg2^2+(aq) + 2NO3^-(aq)

Combining the two equation together, a balanced double displacement reaction occurs as shown below:

2Na+(aq) + 2Cl-(aq) + Hg2^2+(aq) + 2NO3^-(aq) —> 2Na+2NO3^-(aq) + Hg2^2+2Cl-(s)

From the above we can thus right the insoluble precipitate as

Hg2^2+(aq) + 2Cl^-(aq) —> Hg2Cl2(s)
