B is correct. Molecules move faster when they are hotter because they have more energy. You can notice this change with your naked eye. Molecules in solids don't move. They have barely any energy. Hope this helps! ;)

I'd say A, because when you heat most things they shrink. Say you heat up some french fried, the heat makes some of the water evaporate, causing the fries to shrivel up.

Based on patterns in the periodic table, which ion has a stable valence electron configuration?
kifflom [539]

The ions of Noble gases, group VIII elements have a full octet configuration on their outermost shell and as such are highly stable.

The periodic table is a systematic arrangement of elements in order of their atomic numbers into a set of 8 columns each called groups and a set of 7 rows each called a period.

Elements are arranged in different groups according to the number of Valence electrons they have.

 • For instance, elements in the group I of the periodic table are highly electropositive and as such are highly reactive.

The same is evident in group 7 elements are highly electronegative and have high electron affinity and as such are unstable and reactive.

 • However, Noble gases, group VIII elements have a full octet configuration on their outermost shell and as such are highly stable.

Consequently, the Noble gases ion has a stable Valence electron configuration.

What is the new pressure of 150 mL of a gas that is compressed to 50 mL when the original pressure was 2.0 atm and the temperatu
tatyana61 [14]

Answer:

1) 6.0 atm.

2) 2.066 atm.

Explanation:

 • From the general law of ideal gases:

PV = nRT.

where, P is the pressure of the gas.

V is the volume of the container.

n is the no. of moles of the gas.

R is the general gas constant.

T is the temperature of the gas (K).

1) What is the new pressure of 150 mL of a gas that is compressed to 50 mL when the original pressure was 2.0 atm and the temperature is held constant?

 • At constant T and at two different (P, and V):

P₁V₁ = P₂V₂.

P₁ = 2.0 atm, V₁ = 150.0 mL.

P₂ = ??? atm, V₂ = 50.0 mL.

∴ P₂ = P₁V₁/V₂ = (2.0 atm)(150.0 mL)/(50.0 mL) = 6.0 atm.

2. A sample of a gas in a rigid container at 30.0°C and 2.00 atm has its temperature increased to 40.0°C. What will be the new pressure?

 • Since the container is rigid, so it has constant V.
 • At constant V and at two different (P, and T):

P₁/T₁ = P₂/T₂.

P₁ = 2.0 atm, T₁ = 30.0°C + 273 = 303 K.

P₂ = ??? atm, T₂ = 40.0°C + 273 = 313 K.

∴ P₂ = P₁T₂/T₁ = (2.0 atm)(313.0 K)/(303.0 K) = 2.066 atm.

In an endothermic reaction what is true of the enthalpy
charle [14.2K]

Answer is: a) is has increased.

There are two types of reaction:

1) endothermic reaction (chemical reaction that absorbs more energy than it releases).

For example, the breakdown of ozone is an endothermic process. Ozone has lower energy than molecular oxygen (O₂) and oxygen atom, so ozone need energy to break bond between oxygen atoms.

2) exothermic reaction (chemical reaction that releases more energy than it absorbs).

For example, ΔH(reaction) = -225 kJ/mol; this is exothermic reaction.
