A 5 kg box is sitting on a rough wooden surface. The coefficient of static friction between the box and surface is 0.6. If the n

The force of friction needed to overcome to move the box is 29.4N

According to Newton's second law;

\sum F_x = ma_x\\

Taking the sum of force along the plane;

F_m -F_f = ma\\F_m -F_f = 0\\F_m=F_f = \mu R

This shows that the moving force is equal to the frictional force

Given that

\mu = 0.6\\R = mg = 49N

Get the frictional force;

Since

F_f = \mu R\\F_f = 0.6 \times 49\\F_f = 29.4N

Hence the force of friction needed to overcome to move the box is 29.4N

A truck travels up a hill with a 7.5◦incline.The truck has a constant speed of 24 m/s.What is the horizontal component of thetru
riadik2000 [5.3K]

Answer:

The horizontal component of the truck's velocity is: 23.70 m/s

The vertical component of the truck's velocity is: 3.13 m/s

Explanation:

You have to apply trigonometric identities for a right triangle (because the ramp can be seen as a right triangle where the speed is the hypotenuse), in order to obtain the components of the velocity vector.

The identities are:

Cosα= \frac{CA}{H}

Senα= \frac{CO}{H}

Where H is the hypotenuse, α is the angle, CA is the adjacent cathetus and CO is the opposite cathetus

The horizontal component of the truck's velocity is:

Let Vx represent it.

In this case, CA=Vx, H=24 and α=7.5 degrees

Vx=(24)Cos(7.5)

Vx=23.79 m/s

The vertical component of the truck's velocity is:

Let Vy represent it.

In this case, CO=Vy, H=24 and α=7.5 degrees

Vy=(24)Sen(7.5)

Vy=3.13 m/s

A small sphere with mass 1.5g hangs by a thread between two parallel vertical plates 5cm apart. The plates are insulating and ha
kondaur [170]

The tralational equilibrium condition allows finding that the electric potential is   V = 4.8 10¹¹ V

Given parameter

  • The mass m = 1.5 g = 1.15 10-3 kg
  • The charge on the sphere q = 8.9 10-16 C
  • Plate spacing d = 5 cm = 5.00 10-2 m

To find

  • The potential difference

Newton's second law states that the force is proportional to the mass and the acceleration of the bodies, in the special case that the acceleration is zero, it establishes the condition for the equilibrium of the bodies

          ∑ F = 0

Where the bold indicate vector and F is the force

To use this equation we must fix a reference system with respect to which to carry out the decomposition and measurements of the forces; let's fix a system with the horizontal x axis and the vertical y axis, in the attachment I could see a free body diagram.

x- axis

     Fe - Tₓ = 0

     Fe = Tₓ

y-axis

     T_y - W = 0

     W = T_y

     mg = T_y

The electric force is

      Fe = q E = q V / d

let's use trigonometry to decompose the stress

     cos 30 =  T_y / T

     sin 30 = Tₓ / T

      T_y = T cos 30

      Tₓ = T sin 30

We substitute

        q V / d = T sin 30

        mg = T cos 30

It's solve the system of equations

         \frac{q \ V}{d \ m g} = tan 30

         V = \frac{d \ mg }{ q}\ tan \  30

It's calculate

         V = \frac{5.00 \ 10^{-2} 1.5 \ 10^{-3} \ 9.8}{ 8.9 10^{-16} } \ tan \ 30

         V = 4.768 10¹¹ V

In conclusion, using the equilibrium condition, we could find that the electric potential is V = 4.8 10¹¹ V

Why should you explore the potential roadblocks to your chosen career?
valina [46]

Answer: D

Explanation: D is the most reasonable answer because it's always good to plan ahead for anything, so if you were to plan ahead for future obstacles, then you can overcome them.
