A 5 kg box is sitting on a rough wooden surface. The coefficient of static friction between the box and surface is 0.6. If the n

The force of friction needed to overcome to move the box is 29.4N

According to Newton's second law;

\sum F_x = ma_x\\

Taking the sum of force along the plane;

F_m -F_f = ma\\F_m -F_f = 0\\F_m=F_f = \mu R

This shows that the moving force is equal to the frictional force

Given that

\mu = 0.6\\R = mg = 49N

Get the frictional force;

Since

F_f = \mu R\\F_f = 0.6 \times 49\\F_f = 29.4N

Hence the force of friction needed to overcome to move the box is 29.4N

A pulsar is a rapidly rotating neutron star that emits a radio beam the way a lighthouse emits a light beam. We receive a radio
Gnesinka [82]

Answer:

a).a_p=-2.39x10^{-12} rad/s^2

b).t=1016298.8 years

c).T_i=80.58x10^{-3}s

Explanation:

a).

The acceleration for definition is the derive of the velocity so:

a_p=\frac{dw}{dt}

w=\frac{2\pi}{t}

a_p=\frac{dw}{dt}=-\frac{2\pi}{t^2}*\frac{dT}{dt}

dT=0.0808s

dt=1 year*\frac{365d}{1year} \frac{24hr}{1d} \frac{60minute}{1hr} \frac{60s}{1minute}=31.536x10^{6}s

Replacing

a_p=-\frac{2\pi}{0.082s^2}*\frac{9.84x10^{-7}}{31.536x10^{6}s}= -2.39x10^{-12} rad/s^2

b).

If the pulsar will continue to decelerate at this rate, it will  stop rotating at time:

t=\frac{w}{a_p}

w=\frac{2\pi }{t}=\frac{2\pi }{0.0820s}=76.62 rad/s

t=\frac{76.62 rad/s}{2.39x10^{-12}rad/s^2}= 3.2058x10^{13}s

t=1016298.8 years

c).

A boy flies a kite with the string at a 30∘ angle to the horizontal. The tension in the string is 4.5 N. Part A Part complete Ho
zimovet [89]

Answer:

Work done is zero

Explanation:

given data

Angle of kite with horizontal =  30 degree

tension in the string =  4.5 N

WE KNOW THAT

Work =  force * distance

horizontal force =  Tcos\theta = 4.5*cos30 = 3.89 N

DISTANCE = 0 as boy stands still. therefore

work done = 3.89 *0 = 0

A bullet with a mass ????b=13.5 g is fired into a block of wood at velocity ????b=249. The block is attached to a spring that ha
larisa86 [58]

Answer:

M = 0.436 kg

Explanation:

As per energy conservation we can say that energy stored in the spring at the position of maximum compression must be equal to the kinetic energy of bullet and block system

so here we have

\frac{1}{2}(m + M)v^2 = \frac{1}{2} kx^2

here we know that

k = 205 N/m

x = 35 cm

\frac{1}{2}(m + M)v^2 = \frac{1}{2}(205)(0.35)^2

now by momentum conservation we know that

mv_o = (m + M)v

v = \frac{m}{m + M} v_o

now plug in all values in it

v = \frac{0.0135}{0.0135 + M}(249)

now from above equation

\frac{1}{2}(0.0135 + M)( \frac{0.0135}{0.0135 + M}(249))^2 = 12.56

\frac{5.65}{0.0135 + M} = 12.56

by solving above equation we have

M = 0.436 kg
