How many miles of NaOH will completely react with 10.0 mL of 1.0 M HCl?
Naddik [55]
The reaction between 1 mole of NaOH and 1 mole of HCl creates 1 mole of NaCl and 1 mole of water. Meaning that the moles of HCl needs to equal that of NaOH for the solution to be considered equalized. That being said, you first need to find the numbers miles of HCl by multiplying the volume by the molarity to get 0.01 moles HCl. (1Mx0.01L=0.01). That means that you need 0.01 moles of NaOH. I hope that helps. Let me know if anything is unclear.

Calculate the ph of sweater which has a hydrogen ion concentration of 1 times 10 to the power of 8
telo118 [61]

Answer:

The pH of the sweater containing Hydrogen ion concentration

[H^{+}]=1\times 10^{-8} is

<u>8</u>

<u></u>

Explanation:

pH = It is the negative logarithm of activity (concentration) of hydrogen ions.

pH = -log([H+])

Now, In the question the concentration of [H+] ions is :

[H^{+}]=1\times 10^{-8}

pH = -log(1\times 10^{-8})

use the relation:

log(10^{-a})=a

pH= -(-8)

pH = 8

Note : <em><u> 1 times 10 to the power of 8 must be" 1 times 10 to the power of -8"</u></em>

If the concentration is

[H^{+}]=1\times 10^{8}

Then pH = -8 , which is not possible . So in that  case the pH calculation is by other method

a solution is an acid or base and it doesn't react with metal. is it pH more likely to be 4 or 9? explain your answer
coldgirl [10]
It is more likely 9. pH 4 is acidic and pH 9 is basic, and as the pH of a substance gets closer to 0 or 14, the substance becomes more corrosive or reactive. As 4 is closer to 0 than 9 is to 14, there is a much higher chance the solution has a pH of 9, because pH 4 is less neutral and therefore more corrosive/reactive than pH 9.
