  • Force is a push or a pull acting on an object which tends to change or change its state of rest or of uniform motion, or the direction of motion, or even the shape and size of the object.
  • From Newton's Second Law of Motion, we can derive the formula of force.
  • Newton's Second Law states "The rate of change of momentum of a body is directly proportional to the applied unbalanced force in the direction of force.
  • Let the assume a body of mass m with an initial velocity u. Suppose a force F acts on the body for time t. Consider the final velocity as v.
  • Initial momentum of the body (pi) = mu
  • Final momentum of the body (pf) = mv
  • Therefore, Change in momentum = pf-pi = mv-mu = m(v-u)
  • Rate of change of momentum

=  \frac{Change  \:  \:  \:  \: in \:  \:  \:  \:  momentum}{Time \:  \:  \:  \:  taken}  \\  =  \frac{m(v - u)}{t}  \:  \:  \: ...(1)

  • We know, v=u+ at (equation of motion)
  • =  > a =  \frac{v - u}{t} ...(2)
  • Putting the value of (2) in (1), we get
  • Rate of change in momentum = ma
  • According to Newton's second law of motion,
  • F ∝ rate of change of momentum
  • F ∝ m × a
  • The relation F ∝ m × a can be turned into an equation by putting in a constant k. Then
  • F = k × m × a ...(3) [where k is a constant of proportionality]
  • The unit of force is chosen in such a manner that the constant of proportionality becomes one. The Sl unit of force is newton (N). We define one newton as that force which when acting on a mass of 1 kg produces in it an acceleration of 1 m/s² in its own direction, i.e. when m = 1 kg, a = 1 m/s^2, then F = 1N
  • 1 N=1 kg m/s^ 2
  • Let us substitute these values in equation (3), we get
  • 1N = k × 1 kg × 1 m/s^2

k = 1 [Newton is equivalent to kg m/s²]

  • Therefore, F = ma [For k = 1]
  • So, we can find out force by multiplying the mass of the object with its acceleration.

Hope you could get an idea from here.

Describe how greater distance affects the appearance of an object’s size and brightness
jeka94

Answer:

Distance also affects the apparent brightness of an object. A distant, but very energetic star can appear dimmer to us than a lower-energy, but closer one. ... Each of their effective temperatures results in a different brightness for the object. The quasar, however, is very far away, and so appears dim.

The atomic weight of Ga is 69.72 amu. There are only two naturally occurring isotopes of gallium:
irga5000 [103]

Answer:

71 Ga has a naturally abundance of 36%

Explanation:

Step 1: Given data

Gallium has 2 naturally occurring isotopes: this means the abundance of the 2 isotopes together is 100 %. The atomic weight of Ga is 69.72 amu. This is the average of all the isotopes.

Since the average mass of 69.72 is closer to the mass of 69 Ga, this means 69 Ga will be more present than 71 Ga

Percentage 69 Ga> Percentage 71 Ga

<u>Step 2:</u> Calculate the abundance %

⇒Percentage of 71 Ga = X %

⇒Percentage of 69 Ga = 100 % - X %

The mass balance equation will be:

100*69.72 = x * 71 + (100 - x)*69

6972 = 71x + 6900 -69x

72 = 2x

x = 36 %

71 Ga has a naturally abundance of 36%

69 Ga has a naturally abundance of 64%

Be sure to answer all parts.
Natali5045456 [20]

Answer:

38.7%

41.3%

20%

Explanation:

The percentage composition helps to know the what percent of the total mass of a compound is made up of each of the constituent elements or groups.

To solve this problem:

  • find the formula mass by adding the atomic masses of the atoms that makes up the compound.
  • place the mass contribution of the element or group to the formula mas and multiply by 100;

Compound:

 Ca₃(PO₄)₂

  Formula mass = 3(40) + 2[31 + 4(16)]

                           = 120 + 2(95)

                           = 120 + 190

                           = 310

%C = \frac{3(40)}{310} x 100  = 38.7%

%P = \frac{8(16)}{310} x 100  = 41.3%

%O = \frac{2(31)}{310} x 200  = 20%
