Help!! Classify each diagram as an element a compound or mixture

Chemistry
1 answer:
Black_prince [1.1K]2 years ago
8 0

Answer:

1. Mixture

2. Compound

3. Compound

4. Element

Explanation:

Number 1 shows two completely different types of compounds in the same space, so it is a mixture.

Numbers 2 and 3 are compounds because there aren't different types compounds as in Number 1, but the same compound repeated. 2 is a compound because while all of the circles are the same element, they are connected. O2 for example, oxygen, is a compound.

Number 4, finally, is all of the same substance, non-connected, so it shows an element.

Brainliest, please :) (Trying to become a genius so that I can continue helping more people)

In which of the following situations is heat transferred from the source to popcorn kernels by the method of conduction?
faltersainse [42]

Answer:

Kernels are placed in a pan on a stove

Explanation:

Heat transfer by conduction involves the actual movement between particles of the medium. For conduction to occur, the particles must be in contact with the heating medium or the body at a higher temperatures.

For the popcorn kernels to conduct heat using the conduction heat transfer process, the kernels are placed in contact with the heat source using the frying pan. The stove is the heat source.

When put a knife in contact with fire, it is heat transfer by conduction.

Which of these best explains what happens when ice melts to form liquid water?
iVinArrow [24]
Since the question says “these” I assume it was multiple choice...but anyways, intermolecular forces between some of the water molecules are breaking apart. The H2O is going from a tightly packed solid of a fixed volume to a liquid with molecules moving faster and less bonds, which can take the shape of its container. It requires energy to break a bond, so this is an endothermic process.

All methods of chromatography operate on the same basic principle that Select one: a. one component of the mixture will chemical
ANEK [815]

Answer:C

Explanation:

Chromatography separates compounds by taking advantage of their polarity. The stationary phase is generally very polar. The mobile phase can be pure hexane or various ratios of hexane with a polar eluent added. The more polar the compound, the more it interacts with the stationary phase and won’t move very far up the plate compared to the non-polar or less polar compounds that interact more with the non-polar hexane.
