1) Balance the chemical equation

CaCO_3+2HCl\rightarrow CaCl_2+H_2O+CO_2

2) Convert grams to moles.

The molar mass of CaCO3 is 100.086 g/mol

molCaCO_3=10.0gCaCO_3*\frac{1molCaCO_3}{100.086gCacO_3}=0.0999molCaCO_3

We have 0.0999 mol CaCO3.

The molar mass of HCl is 36.46 g/mol

molHCl=15.0gHCl*\frac{1molHCl}{36.456gHCl}=0.411molHCl

We have 0.411 mol HCl.

3) Which is the limiting reactant?

How many moles of CaCO3 do we need to use all of the HCl?

The molar ratio between CaCO3 and HCl is 1 mol CaCO3: 2 mol HCl.

molCaCO_3=0.411molHCl*\frac{1molCaCO_3}{2molHCl}=0.2055molCaCO_3

<em>We need 0.2055mol CaCO3 and we have 0.0999mol CaCO3. We do not have enough CaCO3. This is the limiting reactant.</em>

How many moles of HCl do we need to use all of the CaCO3?

The molar ratio between CaCO3 and HCl is 1 mol CaCO3: 2 mol HCl.

molHCl=0.0999molCaCO_3*\frac{2molHCl}{1molCaCO_3}=0.1998molHCl

<em>We need 0.1998mol HCl and we have 0.411 mol HCl. We have enough HCl. This is the excess reactant.</em>

4) What mass of the excess reactant will get used?

We have 0.411 mol HCl

We need 0.1998 mol HCl. This is what we will use.

5) Convert moles to grams

The molar mass of HCl is 36.46 g/mol

gHCl=0.1998molHCl*\frac{36.46gHCl}{1molHCl}=7.285gHCl

<em>7.28g HCl will get used in the reaction.</em>

A 25 Ω resistor has a voltage drop of 12 V across it. Calculate the current flowing through the resistor
Yanka [14]

Answer:

0.48

Explanation:

i =  \frac{v}{r}

because we are looking for I which is current we say

I = 12÷25 which is 0.48.

A compound is analyzed and found to be 50% sulfur and 50% oxygen. If the total amount of the sulfur oxide is 12.5 g, how many gr
il63 [147K]

Answer:

25.0g is the mass of sulfur

Explanation:

The sulfur and the oxygen are 50:50. That means there is 1 mole of S per mole of O.

To solve this question we need to convert the mass of O to moles, as moles of O = Moles of S, we can find the moles of S and its mass:

<em>Moles O = Moles S:</em>

12.5g O * (1mol / 16g) = 0.781 moles

<em>Mass S:</em>

0.781 moles * (32g / mol) =

<h3>25.0g is the mass of sulfur</h3>

State relationship between the level of dissolved oxygen and water temperature
Artemon [7]
More dissolved oxygen is present in water with a lower temperature compared to water with a higher temperature. The reason for this inverse relationship between dissolved oxygen and temperature is that the solubility of a gas in a liquid is an equilibrium phenomenon.
