Why do farmers spray water over their crops before a frost?
Nezavi [6.7K]

Answer:

When water freezes and turns into ice, it releases latent heat. Then, the ice that builds up on the plant will insulate it from the colder surrounding air temperatures. Because of this, some growers choose to spray their crop with water before the freeze occurs.

Explain why an atom with 7 valence electrons and 2 energy levels has a high electronegativity and ionization energy.
boyakko [2]

Explanation:

This atom is on the almost extreme right of the 2nd period of the periodic table (except for the stable element on the extreme right). This means it has the highest mass number of the unstable elements of the period. It thus attracts its electron clouds more strongly that the elements to the left of the period . This means it can gain an atom easily ( this is what is called electronegativity – tendency to attract an electron) than is can lose an electron. In addition, it only needs to acquire one electron to achieve a stable electron configuration (8) in its valence shell.

Due to these, it is hard for the atoms to lose an electron which is why it has a high ionization energy- the energy required to lose an electron.

What is the variable that is changed by
denpristay [2]

Answer:

b. independent/manipulated variable

Explanation:

Independent/manipulated variable - refers to the variable that is changed by the scientist or an experimenter. Only one variable that is independent is required to ensure a fair test in an excellent experiment. As the independent variable is being changed by an experimenter or scientist, data is being recorded simultaneously as they are collected.
