You are designing a delivery ramp for crates containing exercise equipment. The 1890 N crates will move at 1.8 m/s at the top of

a ramp that slopes downward at 22.0◦. The ramp exerts a 515 N kinetic friction force on each crate, and the maximum static friction force also has this value. Each crate will compress a spring at the bottom of the ramp and will come to rest after traveling a total distance of 5.0 m along the ramp. Once stopped, a crate must not rebound back up the ramp. Calculate the largest force constant of the spring that will be needed to meet the design criteria.

Answer:

K = 588.3 N/m

Explanation:

From a forces diagram, and knowing that for the maximum value of K, the crate will try to rebound back up (Friction force will point downward):

Fe - Ff - W*sin(22) = 0    Replacing Fe = K*X   and then solving for X:

X = \frac{Ff + W*sin(22)}{K}=\frac{1223}{K}

By conservation of energy:

\frac{K*X^{2}}{2}-mg*d*sin(22)-\frac{m*V^{2}}{2}=-Ff*d

Replacing our previous value for X and solving the equation for K, we get maximum value to prevent the crate from rebound:

K = 588.3 N/m

If you need 40.0 Nm of torque in order to loosen a nut on a wn
KonstantinChe [14]

Answer:

0.301 m

Explanation:

Torque = Force × Radius

τ = Fr

40.0 Nm = 133 N × r

r = 0.301 m

The mechanic must apply the force 0.301 m from the nut.

What kind of circuit is the one shown below?
lions [1.4K]

Answer:

The given circuit diagram shows parallel circuit.

Explanation:

In this circuit diagram two bulbs are connected in parallel combination because current flows from the battery gets bifurcated at the junction. Thus, two bulbs are connected in parallel combination.

This parallel combinations of bulbs then connected to the battery given in the diagram. So, the combinations of bulbs are connected in parallel combinations with the battery.

Hence, both bulbs and battery are connected in parallel combinations with each other.

The circuit diagram shown in figure is parallel.

A long straight cylindrical shell has an inner radius R_i and an outer radius R_0. It carries a current i, uniformly distributed
Irina-Kira [14]

Answer:

Correct answer is option D

- Wire is on the cylinder axis and carries current i in the direction opposite to that of the current in the shell

Explanation:

- It cannot be Option E, because the magnetic field outside the wire would not be 0 due to the current carried by the conductor

-Also, the parallel wire cannot carry current in the same direction because, that would amplify the magnetic field created by the outer cylinder (since B is dir. proportional to the current) -and now, that leaves only option C and D. If, it is Option C, then that means one side of the cylinder would be more closer to the parallel wire than the other, so there would be different B fields on the two opposite sides of the cylinder. So, that means the answer is option D.

(a) In what direction would the ship in Exercise 3.57 have to travel in order to have a velocity straight north relative to the
shtirl [24]

Answer:

Direction of ship: 9.45° West of North

Ship's relative speed: 7.87m/s

Explanation:

A. Direction of ship: since horizontal of the velocity of boat relative to the ground is 0

Vx=0

Therefore, -VsSin∅+VcCos∅40°

Sin∅ = Vc/Vs × Cos 40°

Sin∅ = 1.5/7 ×Cos40°

Sin∅= 0.164

∅= Sin-¹ (0.164)

∅= 9.45° W of N

B. Ship's relative speed:

Vy= VsCos∅ + Vcsin40°

= 7Cos9.45° + 1.5sin40°

= 7×0.986 + 1.5×0.642

= 7.865

= 7.87m/s
