1. Avogadro's hypothesis. Avogadro hypothesized that equal volumes of all gases (at the same pressure) will have the same number of molecules. From PV=nRT, we know that one mole of gas takes up 22.4 L
2. Mass number. The mass number is the sum of the protons and neutrons in the nucleus so Carbon 12 has an atomic number of 6 which indicates 6 protons, and a mass number of 12 so 12-6 = 6 neutrons.
3. Avogadro's number. Avogadro's number is the number of units in one mole of any substance, which has been defined as 6.02 x10^23
4. Isotopes are the different forms of a single element. They differ in neutrons. One example is Hydrogen which has three isotopes Protium, Deuterium, and Tritium.
5. Atomic mass. The mass of the atom is equal to the sum of the protons and the neutrons as electrons are so small their mass is negligible. This is not exactly the same as the mass number because this number takes into account the different isotopes
6. mole A mole has the same number of entities as 12 grams of carbon 12, it is expressed by Avogadro's number so 1 mole = 6.02 x10^23 atoms or molecules, etc
7. molar mass- the amount that one mole of substance weighs. For carbon 12, 12 grams has one mole of atoms by definition. So for carbon 12, the molar mass is 12 g/mol

Answer:

1. precision: the degree of exactness of a measurement; described by the number of significant digits used to express the value

2. kinematics: a branch of mechanics dealing with the mathematical methods of describing motion

3. accuracy: the degree to which a measurement approaches a standard or true value

4. mass: the quantity of matter that a body possesses

5. derived unit: units calculated by multiplication or division from measurements in base units

6. dimensional analysis: a mathematical problem-solving method that utilizes conversion factors

7. scientific notation: number expressed as powers of ten

8. time: that which flows onward uniformly

9. SI system : an international standardized system of units used to communicate scientific results

10. field: a region in space that yields a value for a measurable quantity at every point

11. model:  a mental or physical construct that describes a physical phenomenon

During a demonstration of the gravitational force on falling objects to her class, Sarah drops an 11 lb. bowling ball from the t
leonid [27]

The instant it was dropped, the ball had zero speed.

After falling for 1 second, its speed was 9.8 m/s straight down (gravity).

Its AVERAGE speed for that 1 second was (1/2) (0 + 9.8) = 4.9 m/s.

Falling for 1 second at an average speed of 4.9 m/s, is covered <em>4.9 meters</em>.

ANYTHING you drop does that, if air resistance doesn't hold it back.

Show that the electric potential along the axis of a uniformly charged disk of radius R and charge density sigma is given by by
OlgaM077 [116]

Explanation:

Area of ring \ 2{\pi} a d a

Charge of on ring d q=-(\ 2{\pi} a d a)

Charge on disk

Q=-\left(\pi R^{2}\right)

\begin{aligned}d v &=\frac{k d q}{\sqrt{x^{2}+a^{2}}} \\&=2 \pi-k \frac{a d a}{\sqrt{x^{2}+a^{2}}} \\v(1) &=2 \pi c k \int_{0}^{R} \frac{a d a}{\sqrt{x^{2}+a^{2}}} \cdot_{2 \varepsilon_{0}}^{2} R \\&=2 \pi \sigma k[\sqrt{x^{2}+a^{2}}]_{0}^{2} \\&=\frac{2 \pi \sigma}{4 \pi \varepsilon_{0}}[\sqrt{z^{2}+R^{2}}-(21)] \\&=\frac{\sigma}{2}(\sqrt{2^{2}+R^{2}}-2)\end{aligned}
