Henrietta is going off to her physics class, jogging down the sidewalk at a speed of 4.15 m/s . Her husband Bruce suddenly reali

zes that she left in such a hurry that she forgot her lunch of bagels, so he runs to the window of their apartment, which is a height 44.4 m above the street level and directly above the sidewalk, to throw them to her. Bruce throws them horizontally at a time 8.00 s after Henrietta has passed below the window, and she catches them on the run. You can ignore air resistance.
Required:
a. With what initial speed must Bruce throw the bagels so Henrietta can catch them just before they hit the ground?
b. Where is Henrietta when she catches the bagels?

Answer:

a 15.22 m/s

b 45.65 m

Explanation:

Using the same formula,

x = vt, where

x is now 45.65, and

t is 3 s, then

45.65 = 3v

v = 45.65/3

v = 15.22 m/s

See the attachment for the part b. We used the distance gotten in part B, to find question A

If a second particle, with the same electric charge but ten times as massive, enters the field with the same velocity v ⃗ , what
masya89 [10]

Answer:

Explanation:

When an moving electric charge passes through a uniform magnetic field

its motion becomes circular .

If m be the mass v be the velocity , q be the charge on the mass B be the magnetic field and R be the radius of circular path

force on the moving charge created by magnetic field

= B q v

Centripetal force required for circular motion

= m v² / R

For balancing

B q v = m v² / R

v = B q R / m

Time period of rotation

T = 2π R / v

= 2 π R m / B q R

= 2 π  m / B q

For first particle

T₁ =  2 π  m₁ / B q₁

For second  particle

T₂ =  2 π  m₂ / B q₂

q₁ = q₂ and 10 m₁ = m₂ ( given )

Putting the values in second equation

T₂ =  2 π  10 m₁ / B q₁

= 10 x 2 π m₁ / B q₁

= 10 T₁

Given T₁ = T

T₂ = 10 T

A farmer lifts his hay bales into the top loft of his barn by walking his horse forward with a constant velocity of 1 ft/s. Dete
Lesechka [4]

Answer:

The velocity of the hay bale is - 0.5 ft/s and the acceleration is 6.25\times 10^{- 3} ft/s^{2}

Solution:

As per the question:

Constant velocity of the horse in the horizontal, v_{x} = 1 ft/s

Distance of the horse on the horizontal axis, x = 10 ft

Vertical distance, y = 20 ft

Now,

Apply Pythagoras theorem to find the length:

20^{2} + 10^{2} = l^{2}

l^{2}= 500

Now,

x^{2} + y^{2} = 500                            (1)

Differentiating equation (1) w.r.t 't':

2x\frac{dx}{dt} + 2y\frac{dy}{dt} = 0

x\frac{dx}{dt} = - y\frac{dy}{dt}

where

\frac{dx}{dt} = Rate of change of displacement along the horizontal

\frac{dy}{dt} = Rate of change of displacement along the vertical

v_{x} = velocity along the x-axis.

v_{y} = velocity along the y-axis

xv_{x} = -yv_{y}

v_{y} = - 10\times \frac{1}{20} = - 0.5 ft/s

|v_{y}| = 0.5\ ft/s

Acceleration of the hay bale is given by the kinematic equation:

v_{y}^{2} = u_{y} + 2ay

(-0.5)^{2} =0 + 2ay

0.25 = 2ay

\frac{0.25}{2y} = a

a = \frac{0.25}{2\times 20} = 6.25\times 10^{- 3} ft/s^{2}

A ferris wheel has a radius of 36 feet and completes one revolution every 5.4 minutes. what is the speed of the ferris wheel (in
KIM [24]
In order to find the speed per minute you will have to divide the two numbers together. You need to do 36/5.4 so the answer will be around 6.7 feet per minute.
