Calculate the ratio of the drag force on a passenger jet flying with a speed of 950 km/h at an altitude of 10 km to the drag for

ce on a prop-driven transport flying at one-fifth the speed and half the altitude of the jet. At 10 km the density of air is 0.38 kg/m3 and at 5.0 km it is 0.67 kg/m3. Assume that the airplanes have the same effective cross-sectional area and the same drag coefficient C.

Answer:

14.18

Explanation:

given,

Speed of passenger jet,v₁ = 950 Km/h

Altitude of flight, h₁ = 10 km

Prop-driven speed,v₂ = 950/5 = 190 Km/h

altitude,h₂ = 5 Km

density of air at 10 Km = 0.38 Kg/m³

density of air at 5 Km = 0.67 Kg/m³

Drag force formula

F = \dfrac{1}{2}C\rho Av^2

now, ratio of drag Force

\dfrac{F_{jet}}{F_{prop}}=\dfrac{\dfrac{1}{2}C\rho_{10} Av_{1}^2}{\dfrac{1}{2}C\rho_{5} Av_2^2}

\dfrac{F_{jet}}{F_{prop}}=\dfrac{\rho_{10} v_{1}^2}{\rho_{5}v_2^2}

\dfrac{F_{jet}}{F_{prop}}=\dfrac{0.38\times 950^2}{0.67\times 190^2}

\dfrac{F_{jet}}{F_{prop}}=14.18

Hence, the ration of the drag force is equal to 14.18.

when an object is charged by contact, how does the kind of charge transferred compare to that on the object giving the charge?
11111nata11111 [884]

Lets say sphere 1 has a charge of 12 + and sphere 2 has a charge of 0 +. After they are touched Sphere 1 becomes 6 + and sphere 2 6 +. So 6 - 12 = a change of 6 -, while 6 - 0 = a change of 6 + Therfore,

Answer: The sign of the charge change / transfered are opposites.

A person drops a pebble of mass m1 from a height h, and it hits the floor with kinetic energy KE. The person drops another pebbl
Leona [35]
<h2>Answer:</h2>

<em>Hello, </em>

<h3><u>QUESTION)</u></h3>

<em>✔ We have: KE = PE (potential energy) </em>

<em>PE = m x g x h </em>

The potential energy that the pebble of mass 1 has is called PE1 and the potential energy that the pebble of mass 2 has is called PE2

PE1 = PE2 ⇔ PE1/PE2 = 1

\frac{m_1\times g\times h}{m_2\times g\times 4h} = 1 \\ \\  \frac{m_1}{m_2\times 4} = 1 \\ \\  \frac{m_1}{m_2} = 4

The mass m1 is therefore 4 times greater than that of the stone of mass m2.

A science class puts a balloon containing 1.25 l of air at 101 kpa into a bell jar. using an air pump, the class removes some of
storchak [24]
The first thing you should know in this case is the following definition:
 PV = nRT
 Then, as the temperature is constant, then:
 PV = k
 Then, we have two states:
 P1V1 = k
 P2V2 = k
 We can then equalize both equations:
 P1V1 = P2V2
 Substituting the values:
 (1.25) * (101) = (2.25) * (P2)
 Clearing P2:
 P2 = ((1.25) * (101)) /(2.25)=56.11Kpa
 answer:
 the new pressure inside the jar is 56.11Kpa
