Atoms for negative or positive ions depending on whether they lose or gain electrons to achieve the stable octet.  If an atom loses electrons then it would have a positive charge (cation) and if the atom gains electrons then it would become negatively charged (anion).

How many independent variables should you have in an experiment?
stepladder [879]

Answer:

One independent variable

Explanation:

The other variables are called controlled variables because the experiment is designed to keep them at an unchanging value, known as "controlling" a variable. A valid experiment should have only one independent variable.

When u place an iron nail in basin of water and leave it for two days what is formed in the iron nail
erastova [34]

Answer:

When you place an iron nail in a basin of water and leave it for two days, what will happen to the iron nail? It will form rust on the surface of the nail. Rust forms when iron combines with oxygen to form iron oxide.

Explanation:

Assuming they were clean of rust to begin with, and are made of an ordinary steel - they start to rust - will turn orange, and the orange sediment...

Not much if any while it's in the water for that period of time. However once you remove it then it will be exposed two oxygen and will start to ox...

If it is not coated properly It will form Rust .

For the reaction CH4(g) + 2O2(g)CO2(g) + 2H2O(g) H° = -802 kJ and S° = -5.20 J/K At standard conditions, this reaction would be
Illusion [34]

Answer: at relatively low temperatures.

Explanation:

According to Gibbs equation;

\Delta G=\Delta H-T\Delta S

\Delta G = Gibb's free energy change

\Delta H = enthalpy change

T = temperature

\Delta S = entropy change

A reaction is spontaneous when \Delta G = Gibb's free energy change is negative.

Thus \Delta G=(-\Delta H)-T(-\Delta S)

\Delta G=-(\Delta H)+T(\Delta S)

Thus the reaction is spontaneous or \Delta G is negative only when T(\Delta S)

Thus the reaction is spontaneous at relatively low temperatures
