How many grams of acetylene are produced by adding water to 5.00 g CaC2?
Murljashka [212]

Answer:

2.03125g of acetylene

Explanation:

First thing's first, we have to write out the balanced chemical equation;

CaC2(s) + 2H2O(l) → Ca(OH)2(aq) + C2H2(g)

Water is in excess, so CAC2 is our limiting reactant. i.e it determines the amount of product that would be formed.

1 mol of CaC2 produces 1 mol of C2H2

In terms of mass;

Mass = Number of moles * Molar mass

where the molar mass of the elements are;

Ca = 40g/mol

C = 12g/mol

H = 1g/mol

CaC2 = 40+ (2*12) = 64g/mol

C2H2 =( 2 * 12) + ( 2 * 1) = 26g/mol

64g (1 * 64g/mol) of CaC2 produces 26g ( 1mol * 26g/mol) of C2H2

5g would produce x?

64 = 26

5 = x

Upon solving for x we have;

x = (5 * 26) / 64

x = 2.03125g

At what temperature will a solid melt ?
r-ruslan [8.4K]

A solid will start to melt when it reaches its melting point. For example the melting point of Helium is -272° Celsius and the melting point of Carbon is 3500° Celsius . Helium has the lowest melting point and carbon has the highest melting point in the periodic table.

In humans, digestion begins in the mouth. The complete process of digestion occurs with the help of many different parts of the
Simora [160]

Answer:

The small intestine.

Explanation:

Digestion is the process involving in the breaking down of food in the body so that it can easily be absorbed by the body and add nutrients to the body.

Just like it is given in the question above, before digestion of food is done it has to pass through the following part/organs of the body. These are;

=> Mouth, oesophagus/gullet/pharynx, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, colon, rectum and and anus.

The best part of the body that function of digesting organ is what is known as the small intestine. The small intestine contains duodenum, jejunum and ileum which are responsible for the breaking down of food and also the absorption of the soluble food.

Which one of the following chemical equations is balanced? A. 2NaCl + H2SO4 → HCL + NaSO4 B. 2Na + S → 2NaS C. KOH + H2SO4 → KHS
Molodets [167]
To determine whether our equations are balanced, we must write the elements on the products side and also the reactants side. If the amount of the elements (coefficients and subscripts) are equal on both sides, we have a balanced equation.

Lets try (A)

2NaCl + H₂SO₄ → HCl + NaSO₄

Na=2                    Na=1
Cl=2                    Cl=1
H=2                      H=1
Na=2                    Na=1
S=1                      S=1
O=4                     O=4
Most of the elements here are not equal for both sides, therefore, A is not the answer.

Lets try (B)
2Na + S → 2NaS

Na=2        Na=2
S=1          S=2
This is a wrong answer because S is not equal on both sides. B is a wrong answer.

Lets try (C)
KOH + H2SO4 → KHSO4 + H2O

K=1                       K=1
O= 1                     O=1
H=1                      H=1
H=2                     H=2
S=1                      S=1
O=4                     O=4

THIS IS A BALANCED EQUATION!!!! ALL ELEMENTS ARE EQUAL ON BOTH SIDES!!!

Since we already know that C is our answer, we have no need to check D. Also, D is incorrect because N has 1 on reactants side, and 2 on the other. Therefore, we automatically know that D is wrong.

FINAL ANSWER: C IS OUR ANSWER, IT IS A BALANCED EQUATION. :)
