Why do windows have two panes of glass separated by a layer of air

Physics

Air is a poor conductor of heat.  The air trapped between the two panes is a pretty good <em>insulator</em>.  It does a lot to prevent heat from flowing through the windows ... keeping heat IN during the Winter, and OUT during the Summer.

According to string theory, six space-time dimensions cannot be measured except as quantum numbers of internal particle properti
m_a_m_a [10]

Answer:

10^{-35}\ meters

Explanation:

The string theory is a theoretical concept, the very small particles of particle physics are rep[laced by strings. This theory also applies to black hole physics, nuclear physics, cosmology etc.

According to string theory, six space-time dimensions cannot be measured except as quantum numbers of internal particle properties because they are curled up in size of the order of 10^{-35}\ m.

The length of the scale is assumed to be on the order of 10^{-35}\ m. Hence, the correct option is (a).

A constant torque is applied to a rigid wheel whose moment of inertia is 2.0 kg · m2 around the axis of rotation. If the wheel s
Jlenok [28]

Answer:

The applied torque is 3.84 N-m.

Explanation:

Given that,

Moment of inertia of the wheel is 2\ kg-m^2

Initial speed of the wheel is 0 (at rest)

Final angular speed is 25 rad/s

Time, t = 13 s

The relation between moment of inertia and torque is given by :

\tau=I\alpha \\\\\tau=I\times \dfrac{\omega_f}{t}\\\\\tau=2\times \dfrac{25}{13}\\\\\tau=+3.84\ N-m

So, the applied torque is 3.84 N-m.

How much energy is required to ionize hydrogen when it is in the n = 5 state?
PtichkaEL [24]

Answer:

0.544 eV

Explanation:

To ionize the hydrogen atom n_f\rightarrow infinte

So the required energy is \Delta E=13.6(\frac{1}{n_i^2}-\frac{1}{n_f^2}) as  n_f\rightarrow infinte

So \Delta E=13.6\frac{1}{n_i^2}

We have to calculate the energy required to ionize hydrogen atom when it is in n=5

So the energy should be less than \Delta E=13.6\frac{1}{5^2}=0.544eV

How did the end of the ice age cool the earth
ANEK [815]

In general, it is felt that ice ages are caused by a chain reaction of positive feedbacks triggered by periodic changes in the Earth's orbit around the Sun. The last ice age ended about 12,000 years ago. The next cooling cycle would be expected to start about 30,000 years or more into the future.
