When an object does not move even on pushing , static frictional force acts on in opposite direction of the applied force to stop the object from moving. static frictional force is a self adjusting force and it adjust its value according to the applied force if the applied force is smaller than the maximum value of static frictional force. The object starts moving once the applied force on it becomes greater than the maximum static frictional force.  hence the statement is true.

A monkey hangs stationary at the end of a vertical vine. What two forces act on the monkey? Which force, if either, is greater?
ira [324]

Answer:

Tension and Gravitational Force

Explanation:

The question says that a monkey is hanging, he neither drops down to the ground nor moves up. He keeps hanging on a vertical vine.

Since, the monkey is hanging, two forces acts on the monkey, one force is due to his weight, i.e., the gravitational force which tends to pull him downwards and the other is due to the tension developed in the string which is in upward direction.

Thus to keep the monkey in the hanging state both the forces must counter balance each other and maintains the system 's equilibrium.

Therefore, both the forces must be equal.

musickatia [10]

Answer:

Attract

Explanation:

According to the properties of charge, the bodies having unlike charges attract each other and the bodies having like charges repel each other.

As the toy is initially electrically neutral, so as it is divided into two pieces, then according to the conservation of charge, the one piece having positive charge and the other piece having negative charge. As they are unlike charges so they attract each other.
