Physics

Answer:

The question relates to the conservation of energy principle, the conservation of the linear momentum, and Newton's Laws of motion

Part A

1) Tom throwing a baseball at a can

The initial velocity of the baseball = v₂

The initial kinetic energy of the baseball, K.E.₂ = (1/2)·m₂·v₂²

∴ The final kinetic energy of the baseball, K.E.₂' = (1/2)·m₂·v₂'² < (1/2)·m₂·v₂²

Therefore, the energy of the ball before the collision is lesser than the energy of the ball after the collision

2) The evidence that would likely support the claim is that the baseball's height above the ground reduces rapidly immediately after the collision which is due to the reduced velocity, and therefore, the reduced (kinetic) energy

The final velocity of the baseball v₂' < v₂

Part B

1) The argument

The initial velocity of the can = v₁ = 0 (The can is initially at rest)

The initial kinetic energy of the can, K.E.₁ = (1/2)·m₁·v₁² = 0

The final velocity of the can v₁' > v₁ = 0

∴ The final kinetic energy of the can, K.E.₁ = (1/2)·m₁·v₁² > 0

Given that the velocity of the can increases from zero to a positive value after collision with the baseball, the kinetic energy of the can is increased from zero before the collision to a positive value after the collision

2) An evidence in support of the argument is the motion of the can which was initially at rest which is an indication of increase in energy podded by the can

Answer

0.00346 hL

Explanation

cL means Centilitre while hL means Hectolitre.

10,000 cL = 1 hL

∴ 34.6 cL = 34.6/10,000  hL

                = 0.00346 hL

A spaceship moves radially away from Earth with acceleration 29.4 m/s 2 (about 3g). How much time does it take for sodium street
Gemiola [76]

Answer:

doppler shift's formula for source and receiver moving away from each other:

λ'=λ°√(1+β/1-β)

Explanation:

acceleration of spaceship=α=29.4m/s²

wavelength of sodium lamp=λ°=589nm

as the spaceship is moving away from earth so wavelength of earth should increase w.r.t increasing speed until it vanishes at λ'=700nm

using doppler shift's formula:

λ'=λ°√(1+β/1-β)

putting the values:

700nm=589nm√(1+β/1-β)

after simplifying:

β=0.17

by this we can say that speed at that time is: v=0.17c

to calculate velocity at an acceleration of a=29.4m/s²

we suppose that spaceship started from rest so,

v=v₀+at

where v₀=0

so v=at

as we want to calculate t so:-

t=v/a                                                v=0.17c      ,c=3x10⁸           ,a=29.4m/s²

putting values:

=0.17(3x10⁸m/s)/29.4m/s²

t=1.73x10⁶

If a girl is standing in front of a smooth surface from which a sound is reflected, the girl may hear
gavmur [86]
Near the surface of reflection, reflected wave may interfere with incident wave leading to production of constructive and as well as destructive interference. This in turn, can result to resonance as well as enhancement of the sound intensity as the waves of reflection adds to incident wave. Therefore, the girl would higher intensity of reflected waves as compared to incident waves.

Therefore, statement A is correct.

kipiarov [429]

Answer: C. Metal transfers heat away from the skin by conduction, creating the sensation of coolness.

Explanation: The skin releases heat into the metal bowl since there is a difference in temperature between the two objects. So heat is taken away from the hand abd transfers into the metal bowl by conduction creating a cooler sensation.
