Urban cities like Atlanta have to contend with a serious problem like pollution. Drivers in California are testing out a car tha

t is fueled by hyrodgen; therefore, the emissions produced are water vapor. Read the article from the link below and answer the following questions:
goo.gl/h93L43

1. What does the author mean by the statement:
“If we’re really going to make a significant reduction in carbon emissions, you can only do that with fuel-cell vehicles in the mix"?

2. What are some of the challenges with these type of vehicles? How can these challenges be overcome?

3. Do you think fuel celled cars are a viable answer to decrease pollution why or why not?

1. With this statement, the author is referring to the fact that the vehicles are one of the largest polluters of the air. In order to reduce the pollution, the vehicles that are used will need to be changed, and with it the pollution will decrease significantly. The reduction of the pollution will come because the vehicles on hydrogen will not cause any pollution, so the enormous amounts of carbon dioxide released from the combustion of the engines will be thing of the past.

2. There are several challenges with this type of vehicles in order for them to replace the fossil fuel driven ones. The big price is one of the factors, as the majority of the people can not afford these cars. Another problem is that these vehicles are not as fast as the fossil fuel driven ones, and lot of people enjoy fast driving, despite it not being safe. There are millions of vehicles out there on the roads, and changing all of them with hydrogen vehicles will take a lot of time, as lot of those vehicles are new ones, so the people will not be willing to just throw them away and leave them rot in their garages. In order for the change of the driving park to be accomplished, the prices should go down, the people to be more serious about the environment and its protection, and patience as several decades will probably be needed for a change like this to be competed.

3. The fuel celled cars are a viable answer to decrease the pollution, as they are not causing any pollution, but instead will stop the process of large emissions of carbon dioxide from the fossil fueled cars. While this method is a good one, it should not be the only, as on its own it can not have the desirable effect, but instead all the major polluters should be included in the process. The industry and the production of energy are one of the major polluters as well, so they will need to follow the example, as if they not, the problem will stay, considering that the industry is constantly growing and the demand for energy is constantly growing too.

Find the cost of excavating a space 84 ft long, 42 ft wide, and 9 ft deep at a cost of $39/yd3. (simplify your answer completely
m_a_m_a [10]

The cost of excavating a space of 84 ft long, 42 ft wide, and 9 ft deep is $45864

Information about the problem:

  • Space long= 84 ft
  • Space wide= 42 ft
  • Space deep= 9 ft
  • Cost by yard3 = $39/yd3
  • Total cost= ?

To solve this problem, we have to state the equation using the information of the problem:

Calculating the volume of the total space:

space volume = space long * space wide * space deep

space volume = 84 ft * 42 ft * 9 ft

space volume = 31752 ft3

By converting the volume from ft3 to yd3, we have:

31752 ft3 * (0,037037 yd3 / 1 ft3) = 1176 yd3

Calculating the cost of excavating the volume space:

Total cost = space volume * cost by yard3

Total cost = 1176 yd3 * $39/yd3

Total cost = $45864

What is volume?

It is the space occupied by a body, it is calculated by multiplying its dimensions, for example: length, height and width.

A 52 N sled is pulled across a cement sidewalk at constant speed. A horizontal force of 36 N is exerted. What is the coefficient
Andre45 [30]

Answer:

μ = 0.692

Explanation:

In order to solve this problem, we must make a free body diagram and include the respective forces acting on the body. Similarly, deduce the respective equations according to the conditions of the problem and the directions of the forces.

Attached is an image with the respective forces:

A summation of forces on the Y-axis is performed equal to zero, in order to determine the normal force N. this summation is equal to zero since there is no movement on the Y-axis.

Since the body moves at a constant speed, there is no acceleration so the sum of forces on the X-axis must be equal to zero.

The frictional force is defined as the product of the coefficient of friction by the normal force. In this way, we can calculate the coefficient of friction.

The process of solving this problem can be seen in the attached image.

which observation about the Mid-Atlantic Ridge region provides the best evidence of the seafloor has been spreading over for mil
Kitty [74]

Magnetic stripes on the sea floor

Explanation:

The observation of magnetic stripes patterns at the region of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge galvanized the evidence that sea floor spreading has been on for several millions of years.

  • Geomagnetic field of the earth is similar to that of bar magnet having the north and south pole.
  • It originates from the movement of iron-nickel within the outer core.
  • This geomagnetic field causes the magnetization of magnetic minerals in rock.
  • When freshly formed magma is brought to the surface at the mid oceanic ridge area, the prevailing magnetic field causes the magnetic minerals in the magma to cool in such a way that they align their domains to that of the field.
  • The magnetic field of the earth can reverse and take different geometry. Sometimes, its intensity is very strong and at other times it is weak.
  • The magnetic minerals in melts bear these records.
  • As new materials are brought up, they get magnetized.

Two resistors are to be combined in parallelto form an equivalent resistance of 400Ω. The resistors are takenfrom available stoc
vivado [14]

Answer:

ΔR_{e} = 84   Ω,     R_{e} = (40 ± 8) 10¹   Ω

Explanation:

The formula for parallel equivalent resistance is

          1 / R_{e} = ∑ 1 / Ri

In our case we use a resistance of each

           R₁ = 500 ± 50  Ω

          R₂ = 2000 ± 5%

This percentage equals

        0.05 = ΔR₂ / R₂

        ΔR₂ = 0.05 R₂

        ΔR₂ = 0.05 2000 = 100   Ω

We write the resistance

        R₂ = 2000 ± 100    Ω

We apply the initial formula

        1 / R_{e} = 1 / R₁ + 1 / R₂

        1 / R_{e} = 1/500 + 1/2000 = 0.0025

        R_{e}  = 400    Ω

Let's look for the error (uncertainly) of Re

      R_{e} = R₁R₂ / (R₁ + R₂)

       R’= R₁ + R₂

       R_{e} = R₁R₂ / R’

Let's look for the uncertainty of this equation

      ΔR_{e} / R_{e} = ΔR₁ / R₁ + ΔR₂ / R₂ + ΔR’/ R’

The uncertainty of a sum is

      ΔR’= ΔR₁ + ΔR₂

We substitute the values

     ΔR_{e} / 400 = 50/500 + 100/2000 + (50 +100) / (500 + 2000)

     ΔR_{e} / 400 = 0.1 + 0.05 + 0.06

     ΔR_{e} = 0.21 400

     ΔR_{e} = 84   Ω

Let's write the resistance value with the correct significant figures

    R_{e} = (40 ± 8) 10¹   Ω
