Gravitational potential energy is given by the equation GPE = mgh

So if the masses are the same, and gravity will always be the same as long as we stay on earth, then the only thing that is changing here is the height. Since picture 3 is lower then 1 and 2 it has the least amount of GPE since its height is lower. Since picture 1 and 2 are at the same height they must have the same GPE as everything in the equation would be the same.

Hopefully this makes sense and helps!

How is Newtons second law apply to the egg drop ?
kotykmax [81]

Answer:

Newton's Second Law is applied because of the acceleration caused by natural forces as the egg is plummeting to the earth. And the amount of acceleration the egg has will be largely affected by the amount of force Mr. Baker uses to hurl the egg to the ground.

Explanation:

hope that helps

An object of mass 0.40 kg, hanging from a spring with a spring constant of 8.0 N/m, is set into an up-and-down simple harmonic m
Sergeeva-Olga [200]

Answer:

a = 2 m/s2

Explanation:

we know from newtons 2nd law

F = ma.

we also know that from hookes law we have

F = kx

equate both value of force to get value of acceleration

kx = ma,

where,

k is spring constant = 8.0 N/m

x is maximum displacement  0.10 m

m is mass of object 0.40 kg

a = \frac{kx}{m}

     = \frac{8 *0 .10}{0.40}

a = 2 m/s2

Give reasons:
A freely suspended magnet shows
N-S poles at rest.
aniked [119]

Answer:

A freely suspended magnet comes to rest along the N-S direction.

Explanation:

-Irrespective of direction of suspension, the bar eventually comes to rest at earth's N-S direction.

-Bar end that points to Earth's north is called the North Pole. Bar end that point's to earth's south is called the South pole.

-The reason for this default positioning is called the Directive Property. This is because earth acts as an external magnetic field.

If you and a friend are standing at opposites ends of a gymnasium and one of you claps, will the other hear the clap at the same
34kurt

Answer:

No. Your friend will not hear the clap when he/she sees it.

Explanation:

It takes time for sound waves to go through a large area. It takes longer if people are in the area rather than it is empty.

Two horizontal forces are exerted on a large crate. The first force is 317 N to the right. The second force is 173 N to the left
DENIUS [597]

Answer:

A. Refer to the figure.

B. The net force acting on the crate is

F_{net} = F_1 - F_2 = 317 - 173 = 144N

C. We should first find the acceleration of the crate using the following kinematics equation:

v = v_0 + at\\6.5 = 0 + 5a\\a = 1.3 m/s^2

Mass of the crate can be found by Newton’s Second Law:

F = Ma\\M = F/a = 144/1.3 = 110.7 kg
