Answer:

1) 0,081 ft/s

2) 0,746 lb/s

Explanation:

The relation between flow and velocity of a fluid is given by:

Q=Av

where:

  • Q, flow [ft3/s]
  • A, cross section of the pipe [ft2]
  • v, velocity of the fluid [ft/s]

1)

To convert our data to appropiate units, we use the following convertion factors:

1 ft=12 inches

1 ft3=7,48 gallons

1 minute=60 seconds

So,

Q=\frac{3,60 gallons}{1 min}*\frac{1min}{60 s}*\frac{1ft3}{7,48gallons}=0,00802 \frac{ft3}{s}

As the pipe has a circular section, we use A=πd^2/4:

d=4,26 inch *\frac{1ft}{12 inch}=0,355ft\\  A=\pi \frac{0,355^{2} }{4}=0,0989ft2

Finally:

Q=vA......................v=Q/A

v=\frac{0,00802ft^{3} /s}{0,0989ft^{2} }=0,081ft/s

2)

The following formula is used to calculate the specific gravity of a material:

SG = ρ / ρW

where:

  • SG = specific gravity,
  • ρ = density of the material [lb/ft3]
  • ρW = density of water [lb/ft3] = 62.4 lbs/ft3

then:

ρ = SG*ρW   = 1,49* 62,4 lb/ft3 = 93 lb/ft3

To calculate the mass flow, we just use the density of the chloroform in lb/ft3 to relate mass and volume:

0,00802 \frac{ft3}{s}*\frac{93lb}{1ft3}=0,746lb/s

To get moles. divide mass by molar mass.Molar mass of
Na is 23
and for Cl is 35.5.
the total molar mass of NaCl is 23+35.5 = 58.5mol/gUse the mass and divide by this number30.22g divide by 58.5mol/g and you will get 0.5166 mole.
Since the molecule has 1 Na to 1 Cl, and that the number of moles for NaCL is 0.5166. All of them would be 0.5166molesNa = 0.5166 x 1 = 0.5166molesCl = 0.5166 x 1 = 0.5166moles
to get number of atoms. Multiply your mole by Avogadro number which is 6.022x10^23Na = 0.5166 x 6.022E23 = 3.111x10^23Cl =  0.5166 x 6.022E23 = 3.111x10^23

How many moles of Na2Cr2O7 contain 14 moles of oxygen atoms?
sergiy2304 [10]
The number of moles of sodium dichromate from the number of moles of oxygen atoms can be determined through stoichiometry. Using the molecular formula of the compound, Na2Cr2O7, 1 mole of the compound contains 7 moles of oxygen. Hence, 14 moles O2*(1 mole Na2Cr2O7/ 7 mole O2) is equal to 2 moles <span>Na2Cr2O7.</span>

moles of Mg is therefore=4.03 g/  24.3 g/mol=0.1658  moles

  • by use of mole ratio of Mg:O2  from  the equation  which is 2:1

  the moles 02=0.1679 x1/20.0829 moles

  • at STP  1 mole of a gas= 22.4  l

                            0.0895 moles=? L

  • by cross multiplication
