Which of the following could result from the fission of carbon?
jeka57 [31]
In nuclear reactions, there are can be two kinds: nuclear fission and nuclear fusion. From the word itself, fusion is combination while fission is breaking. Nuclear reactions are different from chemical reactions. Whereas chemical reactions from compounds by exchanging elements, nuclear reactions add or eliminate subparticles, like protons, neutrons and electrons.

So, when carbon is split up, their protons should add up to 6, which is its atomic number. From the choices, the only obvious answer is two lithium atoms. To investigate further, lithium has an atomic number of 3. So, two lithium atoms would equal to 6.

Therefore, the answer is two lithium atoms.
