Answer: An engineering notebook

Explanation: An engineering notebook is a legal record or document kept by the engineers detailing the steps to be taken, the sketches, the calculations as well as the evaluation of the entire engineering design process. It contains all details of what ever is associated with the design process. Pages can neither be added nor removed in this notebook as it is dated and bonded.

It can be used in court of law as evidence if the need arises in legal or safety issues.

Juli2301 [7.4K]

Answer:

a) 1 m^3/Kg

b) 504 kJ

c) 514 kJ

Explanation:

<u>Given  </u>

-The mass of C_o2 = 1 kg

-The volume of the tank V_tank = 1 m^3

-The added energy E = 14 W

-The time of adding energy t = 10 s

-The increase in specific internal energy Δu = +10 kJ/kg

-The change in kinetic energy ΔKE = 0 and The change in potential energy

ΔPE =0

<u>Required  </u>

(a)Specific volume at the final state v_2

(b)The energy transferred by the work W in kJ.

(c)The energy transferred by the heat transfer W in kJ and the direction of

the heat transfer.

Assumption

-Quasi-equilibrium process.

<u>Solution</u>

(a) The volume and the mass doesn't change then, the specific volume is constant.

 v= V_tank/m ---> 1/1= 1 m^3/Kg

(b) The added work is defined by.

W =E * t --->  14 x 10 x 3600 x 10^-3 = 504 kJ

(c) From the first law of thermodynamics.

Q - W = m * Δu

Q = (m * Δu) + W--> (1 x 10) + 504 = 514 kJ

The heat have (+) sign the n it is added to the system.

Instead of running blood through a single straight vessel for a distance of 2 mm, one mammalian species uses an array of 100 tin
Marina CMI [18]

Solution:

Given that :

Volume flow is, $Q_1 = 1000 \ mm^3/s$

So, $Q_2= \frac{1000}{100}=10 \ mm^3/s$

Therefore, the equation of a single straight vessel is given by

$F_{f_1}=\frac{8flQ_1^2}{\pi^2gd_1^5}$    ......................(i)

So there are 100 similar parallel pipes of the same cross section. Therefore, the equation for the area is

$\frac{\pi d_1^2}{4}=1000 \times\frac{\pi d_2^2}{4} $

or $d_1=10 \ d_2$

Now for parallel pipes

$H_{f_2}= (H_{f_2})_1= (H_{f_2})_2= .... = = (H_{f_2})_{10}=\frac{8flQ_2^2}{\pi^2 gd_2^5}$  ...........(ii)

Solving the equations (i) and (ii),

$\frac{H_{f_1}}{H_{f_2}}=\frac{\frac{8flQ_1^2}{\pi^2 gd_1^5}}{\frac{8flQ_2^2}{\pi^2 gd_2^5}}$

       $=\frac{Q_1^2}{Q_2^2}\times \frac{d_2^5}{d_1^5}$

       $=\frac{(1000)^2}{(10)^2}\times \frac{d_2^5}{(10d_2)^5}$

       $=\frac{10^6}{10^7}$

Therefore,

$\frac{H_{f_1}}{H_{f_2}}=\frac{1}{10}$

or $H_{f_2}=10 \ H_{f_1}$

Thus the answer is option A). 10

A European car manufacturer reports that the fuel efficiency of the new MicroCar is 48.5 km/L highway and 42.0 km/L city. What a
statuscvo [17]

Answer:

Fuel efficiency for highway = 114.08 miles/gallon

Fuel efficiency for city = 98.79 miles/gallon

Explanation:

1 gallon = 3.7854 litres

1 mile = 1.6093 km

Let's first convert the efficiency to km/gallon:

48.5 km/litre = (48.5 * 3.7854) km/gallon

48.5 km/litre =  183.5919 km/gallon (highway)

42.0 km/litre = (42.0 * 3.7854) km/gallon

42.0 km/litre = 158.9868 km/gallon (city)

Next, we convert these to miles/gallon:

183.5919 km/gallon = (183.5919 / 1.6093) miles/gallon

183.5919 km/gallon = 114.08 miles/gallon (highway)

158.9868 km/gallon = (158.9868 /1.6093) miles/gallon

158.9868 km/gallon = 98.79 miles/gallon (city)
