Greenhouse effect is the warming of planet due to greenhouse gases in the atmosphere trapping infrared radiation reflecting from the earth's surface.

Explanation:

The earth has a natural greenhouse effect that comes from natural events like volcanos the spew gases such as carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.  Even wildlife and bacteria produce carbon dioxide and methane from respiration. These greenhouse gases maintain are relatively safe greenhouse effect that keeps the planet warm. Without the greenhouse effect, the earth’s average temperatures would be -18 degrees centigrade. The greenhouse gases are regulated by uptake b carbon sinks like forests.

However, humans have exacerbated this greenhouse effect by spewing more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere(more than it is taken up by processes like photosynthesis) hence increasing the greenhouse effect responsible for increasing global temperatures.

A cell phone weighing 80 grams is flying through the air at 15 m/s. What is its kinetic energy
Contact [7]

Answer:

The kinetic energy of the cell phone is 9J

Explanation:

The kinetic energy is the energy possessed by a body by virtue of motion.

The kinetic energy is expressed as

KE= 1/2m(v)²

Given data

Mass of cell phone m= 80g--to kg=80/1000= 0.08kg

Velocity of cell phone v= 15m/s

Substituting our given data we have

KE= 1/2*0.08(15)²

KE= (0.08*225)/2

KE=18/2

KE= 9J

How much force can a 2.5 kg sledge hammer excerpt on a nail if you can swing the hammer at 20 m/s and the hammer contacts the na
AleksAgata [21]

Answer:

625 N

Explanation:

The impulse given to the nail is equal to the change in momentum of the hammer:

I=F \Delta t=m \Delta v

where

F is the force exerted by the hammer

\Delta t=0.08 s is the time of contact

m=2.5 kg is the mass

\Delta v=20 m/s is the change in velocity of the hammer

Substituting the data and re-arranging the equation, we can find the force:

F=\frac{m \Delta v}{\Delta t}=\frac{(2.5 kg)(20 m/s)}{0.08 s}=625 N
