The Sun emits a solar flare directly aimed at Earth. Which instrument on an orbiting satellite would detect the flare first?
Tatiana [17]

Answer:

X-ray Telescope

Explanation:

X-ray Telescope which can be either hard or soft is an instrument on an orbiting satellite that would detect the flare first.

This is because X-ray Telescope is technically designed to detect and determine X-rays or radio and optical emissions from flares, from places or points beyond Earth's atmosphere.

Find the emitted power per square meter of peak intensity for a 3000 k object that emits thermal radiation.
Aleksandr [31]
According to Stefan-Boltzmann Law, the thermal energy radiated by a radiator per second per unit area is proportional to the fourth power of the absolute temperature. It is given by;
    P/A = σ T⁴ j/m²s
Where; P is the power, A is the area in square Meters, T is temperature in kelvin and σ is the Stefan-Boltzmann constant, ( 5.67 × 10^-8 watt/m²K⁴)
Therefore;
Power/square meter = (5.67 × 10^-8) × (3000)⁴
                                 =  4.59 × 10^6 Watts/square meter

A boat that has a speed of 6km / h must cross a 200m wide river perpendicular to the current that carries a speed of 1m / s. Cal
ivanzaharov [21]

Answer:

a) 1.94 m/s

b) 120 m

Explanation:

Convert km/h to m/s:

6 km/h = 1.67 m/s

a) The final speed is found with Pythagorean theorem:

v = √((1.67 m/s)² + (1 m/s)²)

v = 1.94 m/s

b) The time it takes the boat to cross the river is:

t = (200 m) / (1.67 m/s)

t = 120 s

The displacement in the direction of the current is:

x = (1 m/s) (120 s)

x = 120 m

S A block of mass M is connected to a spring of mass m and oscillates in simple harmonic motion on a frictionless, horizontal tr
cestrela7 [59]

The kinetic energy of this block-spring when the block has a speed (v) is given by K.E = 1/2 × (M + m/3)v².

What is kinetic energy?

Kinetic energy can be defined as a form of energy that is possessed by a person due to its motion or change in speed (acceleration).

How to calculate kinetic energy?

Mathematically, kinetic energy can be calculated by using this formula:

K.E = 1/2 × mv²

Where:

  • K.E represents the kinetic energy.
  • m represents the mass.
  • v represents the speed or velocity.

Since the mass of a segment of this spring is dm = (m/l) dx, the kinetic energy for each of its segment would be given by:

dK = 1/2 × (dm)Vx²

This ultimately implies that, the kinetic energy of this block-spring when the block has a speed (v) is given by:

K.E = 1/2 × Mv² + 1/2 × ¹∫₀((x²v²/l²)m/ldx

K.E = 1/2 × (M + m/3)v².
