The main types of bonds are as follows:

Ionic: These are bonds that are formed by the complete transfer of electrons from one atom to the other

Covalent : These are bonds that are formed by the sharing of electrons between two atoms

Metallic: These are bonds or interactions that occur between ionized metal atoms and a sea of electrons surrounding them

Ion-dipole: These are bonds or attractive forces that operate between a polar molecule and an ion.

The only 2 elements in row 1 of the periodic table: hydrogen (H) and helium (He)

The bond formed between H atoms in H₂ is covalent

He₂  is very weakly held by Van Der waals forces and is unstable under normal conditions.

Based on the given options, the type of bond most likely being represented by row 1 is  that of a covalent bond.

A 1.20-L container contains 1.10 g of an unknown gas at STP. What is the molecular weight of the unknown gas?
SOVA2 [1]

Answer:

M = 20.5 g/mol

Explanation:

Given data:

Volume of gas = 1.20 L

Mass of gas = 1.10 g

Temperature and pressure = standard

Solution:

First of all we will calculate the density.

Formula:

d = mass/ volume

d = 1.10 g/ 1.20 L

d = 0.92 g/L

Now we will calculate the molar  mass.

d = PM/RT

0.92 g/L = 1 atm × M / 0.0821 atm.L/mol.K ×273.15 K

M =  0.92 g/L × 0.0821 atm.L/mol.K ×273.15 K /  1 atm

M = 20.5 g/mol

9. During an experiment the students prepared three mixtures A)Starch in water B) Sodium chloride solution C) Tincture of Iodine
il63 [147K]

Answer:

See explanation

Explanation:

Tyndall effect refers to the scattering of light in a solution. Tyndall effect occurs when the size of particles in the solution exceeds 1 nm in diameter. Such solutions are actually called false solutions.

In tincture of iodine, the size of particles in solution is less than 1 nm in diameter hence the solution does not exhibit Tyndall effect. Hence, tincture of iodine is a true solution.

Therefore, if the size of particles in solution exceeded 1nm in diameter, Tyndall effect is observed.
