A single conservative force acts on a 5.00-kg particle within a system due to its interaction with the rest of the system. The e

quation Fx 5 2x 1 4 describes the force, where Fx is in newtons and x is in meters. As the particle moves along the x axis from x 5 1.00 m to x 5 5.00 m, calculate (a) the work done by this force on the particle, (b) the change in the potential energy of the system, and (c) the kinetic energy the particle has at x 5 5.00 m if its speed is 3.00 m/s at x 5 1.00 m.

Answer:

a) W =  40 J

b) -40 J

C) 62.5 J

Explanation:

Given data:

mass of particle is 5 kg

force equation is given as fx = 2x + 14

where fx force in newton

Fdx = (2x +  4)dx

integrated with respect to  x gives

W = x^2 + 4x

evaluated from 1.0 to 5.0 m:

W = 5.0^2 + 4\times 5.0 - 1^2 + 4\times 1

W =  40 J

b) - 40 J (force is conservative)

c) dU = -dK (change in potential = change in kinetic)

Ki = 0.5\times m\times v^2

k initial = 0.5\times 5 \times (3)^2 = 22.5J

Kf = Ki +  dK = 22.5J + 40J = 62.5

A student pushed a box 32.0 m across a smooth, horizontal floor using a constant force of 124 N. If the force was applied for 8.
Brilliant_brown [7]

The power developed is 500 W ( to the nearest Watt)

Power(P) is the rate at which work is done. Work done (W) is the product of the force applied on the object and the displacement (s) made by the point of application of the force.

P = \frac{W}{t}

W= F*s

Therefore,

P=\frac{F*s}{t}

Substitute the given values of force , displacement and time

F = 124 N,s = 32.0 m,t = 8.0 s

P =\frac{W*s}{t} =\frac{124N*22.0s}{8.0s} =496 W

Thus the Power can be rounded off to the nearest value of 500 W

If two children, with masses of 16 kg and 25 kg, sit in seats opposite one another in a rotating merry-go-round with an arm leng
Jlenok [28]

Answer:

92.25 kgm^2

Explanation:

Assume both children bodies are point particles. The total moment of inertia about the rotation axis of 2 points particles of mass 16 kg and 25 kg at 1.5 m arm length is

\sum I = m_1r_1^2 + m_2r_2^2

where m_1 = 16 kg, m_2 = 25 kg are the masses of 2 children r_1 = R-2 = 1.5m are their distance to the center of rotation

\sum I = 16*1.5^2 + 25*1.5^2 = 1.5^2(16 + 25) = 92.25 kgm^2

How does a arrow represent displacement
Lera25 [3.4K]

Answer:

An arrow represents displacement. Because it's a vector quantity.

Vector quantity= Direction+Magnitude

When an arrow is put above a unit like

  • acceleration
  • displacement

it means that it's a vector quantity.

Hope this helps ;) ❤❤❤
