I think the answer would be that mirrors reflect and lenses transmit. i hope this was helpful!

Answer:

Light when strikes mirror, it bounces off where as it transmits through a lens.

A mirror is glass with lustrous metal coated at its back. Light reflects off a mirror and image is formed behind it. A virtual and erect image is formed.

A lens is formed of two curved glass pieces. Light refracts through a lens as it passes from one medium to another i.e. it bends. Light appears to converge or diverges from focus. A real or virtual image may form.

Thus, we can say that light reflects from mirrors and refracts through lenses.

A dragster race car can accelerate from rest to incredible speeds. In one case a dragster is able to finish the 305 m run in 3.6
Dafna1 [17]

Answer:

45.89m/s²

Explanation:

Given

Distance S = 305m

Time t = 3.64s

To get the acceleration during this run, we will apply the equation of motion:

S = ut+1/2at²

Substitute the given parameters into the formula and calculate the value of a

305 = 0+1/2 a(3.64)²

304 = 1/2(13.2496)a

304 = 6.6248a

a = 304/6.6248

a = 45.89m/s²

Hence the average acceleration during this run is 45.89m/s²

A jewellery melts 500g of Silver to pour into a mould. Calculate how much energy was released as the silver solidified.
irga5000 [103]

When silver is poured into the mould the it will solidify

In this process the phase of the Silver block will change from liquid to solid.

This phase change will lead to release in heat and this heat is known as latent heat of fusion.

The formula to find the latent heat of fusion is given as

Q = mL

here given that

m = mass = 500 g

L = 111 kJ/kg

now we can find the heat released

Q = 0.5 * 111 kJ

Q = 55.5 kJ

So it will release total heat of 55.5 kJ when it will solidify

Air is cooled in a process with constant pressure of 150 kPa. Before the process begins, air has a specific volume of 0.062 m^3/
Mama L [17]

Answer:

The pressure is constant, and it is P = 150kpa.

the specific volumes are:

initial = 0.062 m^3/kg

final = 0.027 m^3/kg.

Then, the specific work can be written as:

W = \int\limits^{vf}_{vi} {Pdv} \, = P(vf - vi) = 150kPa*(0.0027 - 0.062)m^3/kg = -5.25 kPa*m^3/kg.

The fact that the work is negative, means that we need to apply work to the air in order to compress it.

Now, to write it in more common units we have that:

1 kPa*m^3 = 1000J.

-5.25 kPa*m^3/kg = -5250 J/kg.
