Reaction rate is expressed in terms of changes in the concentration of reactants and products. Write a balanced equation for the

Answer : The balanced equations will be:

CH_4+2O_2\rightarrow 2H_2O+CO_2

Explanation :

The general rate of reaction is,

aA+bB\rightarrow cC+dD

Rate of reaction : It is defined as the change in the concentration of any one of the reactants or products per unit time.

The expression for rate of reaction will be :

\text{Rate of disappearance of A}=-\frac{1}{a}\frac{d[A]}{dt}

\text{Rate of disappearance of B}=-\frac{1}{b}\frac{d[B]}{dt}

\text{Rate of formation of C}=+\frac{1}{c}\frac{d[C]}{dt}

\text{Rate of formation of D}=+\frac{1}{d}\frac{d[D]}{dt}

Rate=-\frac{1}{a}\frac{d[A]}{dt}=-\frac{1}{b}\frac{d[B]}{dt}=+\frac{1}{c}\frac{d[C]}{dt}=+\frac{1}{d}\frac{d[D]}{dt}

From this we conclude that,

In the rate of reaction, A and B are the reactants and C and D are the products.

a, b, c and d are the stoichiometric coefficient of A, B, C and D respectively.

The negative sign along with the reactant terms is used simply to show that the concentration of the reactant is decreasing and positive sign along with the product terms is used simply to show that the concentration of the product is increasing.

Now we have to determine the balanced equations corresponding to the following rate expressions.

Rate=-\frac{d[CH_4]}{dt}=-\frac{1}{2}\frac{d[O_2]}{dt}=+\frac{1}{2}\frac{d[H_2O]}{dt}=+\frac{d[CO_2]}{dt}

The balanced equations will be:

CH_4+2O_2\rightarrow 2H_2O+CO_2

Answer:

The covalent bond in Cl₂ is break and combine with sodium to form NaCl through ionic bond.

Explanation:

Chemical equation:

Na  +  Cl₂    →   NaCl

Balanced chemical equation:

2Na  +  Cl₂    →   2NaCl

The given reaction indicate the formation of sodium chloride.

Sodium chloride is an ionic compound. It is formed by the reaction of chlorine and sodium. The type of bond in Cl₂ is covalent. Both chlorine atoms are tightly held together through sharing of electrons. When sodium chloride is formed the covalent between the chlorine atoms are break and it react with sodium . The chlorine toms thus gain the one electron from the sodium atom and became negative ion while sodium by losing its one valance electrons became positive ions. The strong electrostatic forces are develop between them and ionic bond is formed.

Why is sound able to travel faster through a solid than a gas?
noname [10]

Answer:

Sound travels more quickly through solids than through liquids and gases because the molecules of a solid are closer together and, therefore, can transmit the vibrations (energy) faster.

Answer:

9.63×10²⁴ particles of H₂O

Explanation:

We'll begin by writing the balanced equation for the reaction. This is given below:

CH₄ + 2O₂ —> CO₂ + 2H₂O

From the balanced equation above,

1 mole of CH₄ reacted to produce 2 moles of H₂O.

Next, we shall determine the number of mole of H₂O produced by the reaction of 8 moles of CH₄. This can be obtained as follow:

From the balanced equation above,

1 mole of CH₄ reacted to produce 2 moles of H₂O.

Therefore, 8 moles of CH₄ will react to produce = 8 × 2 = 16 moles of H₂O.

Thus, 16 moles of H₂O were obtained from the reaction.

Finally, we shall determine the number of particles of H₂O produced. This can be obtained as follow:

Number of mole of H₂O produced = 16 moles

Number of particles produced =?

From Avogadro's hypothesis,

1 mole = 6.02×10²³ particles

Therefore,

16 mole = 16 mole × 6.02×10²³ particles / 1 mole

16 moles = 9.63×10²⁴ particles

Therefore, 9.63×10²⁴ particles of H₂O were produced.
