How many particles are in 100.0 grams of gold

Chemistry

First, we need to convert the grams of gold into mole using the molar mass (molecular weight) of gold, and then into particles using avogadro's number (1 mol= 6.02 x 10^23)

molar mass of gold= 197 grams/ mole

100.0 grams (1 mole/ 197 grams) x (6.02 x 10^23 particles/ 1 mole) = 3.06 x 10^23

Is the following nuclear equation balanced?
214Pb > He + 240 Hg
yes
no
mariarad [96]

Answer:

Yes

Explanation:

Nuclear equation:

²¹⁴₈₂Pb → ₂He⁴ + ²¹⁰₈₀Hg

The given equation is balanced. It shows the emission of alpha particle which is helium nuclei. When atom undergoes the alpha emission the original atom convert into the atom having mass number less than 4 and atomic number less than 2 as compared to parent atom the starting atom.

Properties of alpha radiation:

Alpha radiations are emitted as a result of radioactive decay. The atom emit the alpha particles consist of two proton and two neutrons. Which is also called helium nuclei.

Alpha radiations can travel in a short distance.

These radiations can not penetrate into the skin or clothes.

These radiations can be harmful for the human if these are inhaled.

These radiations can be stopped by a piece of paper.
