Summary of a trade-off between. Potential and kinetic energy

Chemistry

Simply put, Potential energy is the "build up". If I had a ball on the top a 5ft slide, it would have potential energy, as long as it hasn't slid down yet.

If I had another ball on a 10ft slide, it would have twice the potential energy the first ball had.

What comes next is kinetic energy, which is the energy used when the object is moving, like the ball as it goes down the slide. The faster it moves, the more kinetic energy.

Basically, <em>Potential</em> is the "build up" but it does not, I repeat does not move.

<em>Kinetic</em> energy is the use of the "build up" through movement.

What is the preasure in atmospheres of 20 mol of nitrogen gas in 36.2 L cylinder at 25 degrees C?
Savatey [412]

Answer:

P = 13.5 atm

Explanation:

Given that

No. of moles, n = 20 moles

Volume of nitrogen gas = 36.2 L

Temperature = 25°C = 298 K

We need to find the pressure of the gas. Using the ideal gas equation

PV = nRT

Where

R is gas constant, R=0.082057\ L-atm/K-mol

So,

P=\dfrac{nRT}{V}\\\\P=\dfrac{20\times 0.082057\times 298}{36.2 }\\\\P=13.5\ atm

so, the pressure of the gas is equal to 13.5 atm.

Why Group 18 elements on the periodic table rarely form compounds
lawyer [7]
Most elements on group 18 are the Noble Gases. They already have a complete last level with 8 electrones. Actually they can form compounds but only on the lab and they will not even last half a second.
