The oxidation number of As in Na3AsO2 is

Chemistry

3 0
Step 1:
           Write down Chemical formula, Overall compound is neutral, so overall charge on it is zero,

                                              Na₃AsO₂  =  0

Step 2:
           Write down the oxidation state of known elements, i.e O.S of Na is +1, and O.S of O is -2, Now put these values in above formula.

                                        (+1)₃ + As + (-2)₂  =  0

Step 3:
           Now solve for As,

                                        (+1)₃ + As + (-2)₂  =  0

                                        +3 + As - 4  =  0

                                         As  =  4 - 3

                                         As  = +1
Result:

Oxidation state of Arsenic in Na₃AsO₂ is +1.

Name the following compound: <br> C5Si7
skad [1K]

Answer:

Pentacarbon heptasilicide.

Explanation:

In order to name the following compound, we need to identify whether it is molecular or ionic.

Molecular compounds consist of non-metal atoms, while ionic compounds would have metal cations in their composition.

In the given compound, C_5Si_7, we have two non-metals, carbon and silicon, meaning we should follow the molecular compound naming rules. The rules involve using prefixes to state the number of individual atoms.

The two prefixes required here are 'penta' for 'five' to indicate 5 carbon atoms present and 'hepta' for 'seven' to indicate 7 silicon atoms present.

The first part of the name would be pentacarbon (notice that the standard name for the first element is used). The second part would be heptasilicide (notice that the second atom would have an ending of -ide followed by the standard beginning of silicon).

If 42.8 mL of 0.204 M HCl solution is needed to neutralize a solution of Ca(OH)2, how many grams of Ca(OH)2 must be in the solut
Aneli [31]

Hey There!

At neutralisation moles of H⁺ from HCl  = moles of OH⁻ from Ca(OH)2  so :

0.204 * 42.8 / 1000  => 0.0087312 moles

Moles of Ca(OH)2 :

2 HCl + Ca(OH)2 = CaCl2 + 2 H2O

0.0087312 / 2 => 0.0043656 moles (  since each Ca(OH)2 ives 2 OH⁻ ions )

Therefore:

Molar mass Ca(OH)2 = 74.1 g/mol

mass = moles of Ca(OH)2 * molar mass

mass =  0.0043656 * 74.1

mass = 0.32 g of Ca(OH)2

Hope that helps!
