Hogden is conducting an experiment to determine how much force it takes for a nail to puncture a tire, causing a flat. He uses f

ive identical nails and tests them on five identical tires filled with equal amounts of air. He hits each nail one time, applying a different force each time. His results are recorded below. Trial Force (lbs) Result nail 1 15.0 no flat nail 2 30.0 no flat nail 3 45.0 no flat nail 4 60.0 flat nail 5 75.0 flat What can Hogden conclude from his results? A. It takes exactly 60.0 pounds of force on the nail to cause a flat. B. It takes exactly 45.0 pounds of force on the nail to cause a flat. C. It takes between 60.0 and 75.0 pounds of force on the nail to cause a flat. D. It takes between 45.0 and 60.0 pounds of force on the nail to cause a flat.

Explain why the scenario below fails to illustrate an understanding of the importance of metrology. Situation: Natalie is a cali
VMariaS [17]

Answer:

Explanation:

The situation being described completely fails in regard to the importance of metrology. This is because the main importance of metrology is making sure that all of the measurements in a process are as accurate as possible. This accuracy allows an entire process to function efficiently and without errors. In a food production plant, each individual department of the plant relies on the previous function to have completed their job with the correct and accurate instructions so that they can fulfill their functions correctly and end up with a perfect product. If the oven (like in this scenario) is a couple of degrees off it can cause the product to come out burned or undercooked, which will then get transferred to the next part of production which will also fail due to the failed input (burned or undercooked product). This will ultimately lead to an unusable product at the end of the process and money wasted. Which in a large production plant means thousands of products in a single batch are thrown away.

a. Determine R for a series RC high-pass filter with a cutoff frequency (fc) of 8 kHz. Use a 100 nF capacitor. b. Draw the schem
Readme [11.4K]

Answer:

a) 199.04 ohms

b) attached in image

c) -0.696dB

Explanation:

We are given:

Fc = 8Khz = 8000hz

C = 100nF = 100*10^-^9F

a)Using the formula:

F_c = \frac{1}{2pie*Rc}

8000= \frac{1}{2*3.14*R*100*10^-^9}

R =\frac{1}{2*3.14*100*10^-^9*8000}

R = 199.04 ohms

b) diagram is attached

c) H(w) = \frac{V_out(w)}{Vin(w)} = \frac{1}{1-j\frac{wc}{w}}

H(F) = \frac{1}{1-j\frac{fc}{f}}

At F = 20KHz and Fc= 8KHz we have:

H(F)= \frac{1}{1-j\frac{8}{20}} = \frac{1}{1-j(0.4)}

|H(F)|= \frac{1}{\sqrt{1^2+(0.4)^2}}

=0.923

|H(F)| in dB = 20log |H(F)|

=20log0.923

= -0.696dB

This question allows you to practice proving a language is non-regular via the Pumping Lemma. Using the Pumping Lemma (Theorem 1
Ulleksa [173]

Answer:

<em>L is not a regular language with formal proofs  </em>

Explanation:

<em>(a) To prove that L is not a regular language, we will use a proof by contradiction. the assumption entails  that L is a regular language. Then by the Pumping Lemma for Regular Languages, </em>

<em>there exists a pumping length p for L such that for any string s ∈ L where |s| ≥ p, </em>

<em>s = xyz subject to the following conditions: </em>

<em>(a) |y| > 0 </em>

<em>(b) |xy| ≤ p, and </em>

<em>(c) ∀i > 0, xyi </em>

<em>z ∈ L</em>

<em />

<em>(b) To determine that L is not a regular language, we mke use of proof by contradiction.  lets assume, that L is regular. Then by the Pumping Lemma for Regular Languages, it states also,</em>

<em>The pumping length, p for L such that for any string s ∈ L where |s| ≥ p, s = xyz subject  to the condtions as follows : </em>

<em>(a) |y| > 0 </em>

<em>(b) |xy| ≤ p, and </em>

<em>(c) ∀i > 0, xyi </em>

<em>z ∈ L. </em>

<em>Choose s = 0p10p </em>

<em>. Clearly, |s| ≥ p and s ∈ L. By condition (b) above, it follows is shown. by the first condition x and y are zeros.</em>

<em>for some  k > 0. Per (c), we can take i = 0 and the resulting string will still be in L. Thus,  xy0 </em>

<em>z should be in L. xy0 </em>

<em>z = xz = 0(p−k)10p </em>

<em>It is shown that is is  not in L. This is a  contraption with the pumping lemma.  our assumption that L is regular is  incorrect, and L is not a regular language</em>

A pressure gage at the inlet to a gas compressor indicates that the gage pressure is 40.0 kPa. Atmospheric pressure is 1.01 bar.
bonufazy [111]

Answer:

Given

inlet Pga =40kpa = 40000pa

Patm=1.01bar = 1.01 x 100000pa =101000pa

exit Pab= 6.5 (inlet Pab)

But generally, Pab = Patm + Pga

1. the absolute pressure of the gas at the inlet, inlet Pab?

inlet Pab = Patm + inlet Pga

            = 101000pa + 40000pa = 141kpa

the absolute pressure of the gas at the inlet, inlet Pab = 141kpa

2. the gage pressure of the gas at the exit? exit Pga?

exit Pab = Patm + exit Pga

exit Pga = exit Pab - Patm

             = (6.5 x 141kpa) - 101kpa

              = 815.5kpa

the gage pressure of the gas at the exit exit Pga=815.5kpa

Convert 25 mm into in.
mihalych1998 [28]

Answer:

25 mm = 0.984252 inches

Explanation:

Millimeter and inches are both units of distance. The conversion of millimeter into inches is shown below:

<u>1 mm = 1/25.4 inches</u>

From the question, we have to convert 25 mm into inches

Thus,

<u>25 mm = (1/25.4)*25 inches</u>

So,

25 mm=\frac{25}{25.4} inches

Thus, solving we get:

<u>25 mm = 0.984252 inches</u>
