NaHCO3(s) --> Na2CO3 (s) + H20 (g) + CO2 (g)

Chemistry

Answer:

2~NaHCO_3 (s)\rightarrow Na_2CO_3 (s) + H_2O (g) + CO_2 (g)

Explanation:

The reaction will be balanced if on each side of the equation we will have exactly same amounts of each element.

On the left, we have one sodium, on the right we have two, so we may attempt to add a coefficient of two for the reactant, sodium bicarbonate:

2~NaHCO_3 (s)\rightarrow Na_2CO_3 (s) + H_2O (g) + CO_2 (g)

Now, let's calculate the number of hydrogen. We have two on the left and two on the right, so hydrogen is balanced.

A total of 2 carbons are present on the left, as well as two carbons on the right (one in sodium carbonate and one in carbon dioxide).

A total of 6 oxygens on the left and 6 on the right, so now the reaction is balanced.

Draw an alkyl bromide with proper stereochemistry that can be used to synthesize the given alkene as the exclusive product via a
enot [183]

Answer:

See explanation below

Explanation:

You forgot to put the picture to do so. In this case, I manage to find one, and I hope is the one you are looking for. If not, then post it again and I'll gladly help you out again.

According to the picture with the answer, we have a cyclohexane with 4 methyl groups there. Two of them are facing towards the molecule with a darker bond. This means that the alkyl bromide, should have a bromine in one of the bonds, and in order to produce an E2 reaction, this bromine should be facing in the opposite direction of the methyl groups which are facing towards. This is because an E2 reaction occurs with the less steric hindrance in the molecule. If the bromine is in the same direction as the methyl group, it will cause a lot more of work to do a reaction, and therefore, an E2 reaction. I will promote instead a E1 or a sustitution product.

Therefore the alkyl bromide should be like the one in the picture 2.

liubo4ka [24]

Answer:

A potassium atom (atomic number 19) and a bromine atom (atomic number 35) can form a chemical bond through a transfer of one electron. The potassium ion that forms has 18 electrons. What best describes the bromide ion that forms? It is a negative ion that has one more valence electron than a neutral bromine atom.

Explain why the amino group of p-aminobenzoic acid does not participate in the reaction
lubasha [3.4K]

This is because amino group of p-aminobenzoic acid is an aniline and is less electrophilic than an alkyl amine.

What is an Aniline?

This is an aromatic amine which consists of a phenyl group attached to an amino group.

The amino group of p-aminobenzoic acid being an aniline makes it less electrophilic which is why an alkyl amine participates in the reaction instead.
