Answer:

<h2><em>12.45eV</em></h2>

Explanation:

Before calculating the work function, we must know the formula for calculating the kinetic energy of an electron. The kinetic energy of an electron is the taken as the difference between incident photon energy and work function of a metal.

Mathematically, KE =  hf - Ф where;

h is the Planck constant

f is the frequency = c/λ

c is the speed of light

λ is the wavelength

Ф is the work function

The formula will become KE =  hc/λ - Ф. Making the work function the subject of the formula we have;

Ф = hc/λ - KE

Ф = hc/λ - 1/2mv²

Given parameters

c = 3*10⁸m/s

λ = 97*10⁻⁹m

velocity of the electron v = 3.48*10⁵m/s

h = 6.62607015 × 10⁻³⁴

m is the mass of the electron = 9.10938356 × 10⁻³¹kg

Substituting the given parameters into the formula Ф = hc/λ - 1/2mv²

Ф =  6.63 × 10⁻³⁴*3*10⁸/97*10⁻⁹ -  1/2*9.11*10⁻³¹(3.48*10⁵)²

Ф = 0.205*10⁻¹⁷ - 4.555*10⁻³¹*12.1104*10¹⁰

Ф = 0.205*10⁻¹⁷ - 55.163*10⁻²¹

Ф = 0.205*10⁻¹⁷ - 0.0055.163*10⁻¹⁷

Ф = 0.1995*10⁻¹⁷Joules

Since 1eV = 1.60218*10⁻¹⁹J

x = 0.1995*10⁻¹⁷Joules

cross multiply

x = 0.1995*10⁻¹⁷/1.60218*10⁻¹⁹

x = 0.1245*10²

x = 12.45eV

<em>Hence the work function of the metal in eV is 12.45eV</em>

Kyle and Jenny both have pet rabbits. They wanted to see who had the fastest rabbit, so they each recorded data at their homes a
jekas [21]

Answer:

v_kyle = 0.5 m/s

v_jennies = 0.333 m/s

Kyle's Rabbit was the fastest

Explanation:

For the velocity of Kyle's Rabbit:

d = distance covered = 40 m

t = time taken = (1 min)(60s/1 min) + 20 s = 80 s

v_{kyle} = \frac{d}{t} = \frac{40\ m}{80\ s}

<u>v_kyle = 0.5 m/s</u>

For the velocity of Jennies Rabbit:

d = distance covered = 30 m

t = time taken = (1 min)(60s/1 min) + 30 s = 90 s

v_{jennies} = \frac{d}{t} = \frac{30\ m}{90\ s}

<u>v_jennies = 0.333 m/s</u>

It is clear from the results that:

<u>Kyle's Rabbit was the fastest</u>

If a car is moving to the left with constant velocity, one can conclude that If a car is moving to the left with constant veloci
FinnZ [79.3K]

Answer:

Explanation:

If a car is moving to the left with constant velocity, one can conclude that

there must be no forces applied to the car .  The net force applied to the car is zero.

Since there is no acceleration ,no net force is applied , hence no force acts on the car.

Tp-18 what should you do when operating a boat in large waves and high wind?
deff fn [24]

1) Try to head into the waves at some slight angle and the speed of the boat should be reduced.

2) In order to ride up and over the waves, the speed of the boat should be slow.

3) The less the speed of the boat, and the less strain will be put on the hull and superstructure.

Answer:

The universal law of gravitation.

PE = m * G M / R^2  potential energy of mass m due to attractive forces

If the kinetic energy of mass m is greater than the energy due to the attractive masses then then mass m can continue indefinitely away from the attracting masses.
