Answer:

specific gravity = 100

Explanation:

Data Given:

mass of the metal = 200 g

volume = 2 cm³

specific gravity = ?

Solution:

Specific gravity:

It is the measure of the relative density i.e density of the metal divided by the density of the water

Formula Used:

      S.G = density of the substance / density of water at 4°C . . . . . . (1)

As we know

density of water at 4°C = 1 g/cm³

So first we have to find density of metal

formula will be used to calculate density

           d = m/v

put values in above formula

         d = 200 g/ 2 cm³

         d = 100 g/cm³

Now put values in equation 1

              S.G = density of the substance / density of water at 4°C

              S.G = 100 g/cm³ / 1 g/cm³

              S.G = 100

So, the specific gravity of the metal = 100

Ideal He gas expanded at constant pressure of 3 atm until its volume was increased from 9 liters to 15 liters. During this proce
kkurt [141]

Explanation:

The given data is as follows.

             P = 3 atm

                = 3 atm \times \frac{1.01325 \times 10^{5} Pa}{1 atm}

                 = 3.03975 \times 10^{5} Pa

    V_{1} = 9 L = 9 \times 10^{-3} m^{3}    (as 1 L = 0.001 m^{3}),

        V_{2} = 15 L = 15 \times 10^{-3} m^{3}

            Heat energy = 800 J

As relation between work, pressure and change in volume is as follows.

                  W = P \times \Delta V

or,                W = P \times (V_{2} - V_{1})

Therefore, putting the given values into the above formula as follows.

                  W = P \times (V_{2} - V_{1})

                      = 3.03975 \times 10^{5} Pa \times (15 \times 10^{-3} m^{3} - 9 \times 10^{-3} m^{3})

                      = 1823.85 Nm

or,                   = 1823.85 J

As internal energy of the gas \Delta E is as follows.

                     \Delta E = Q - W

                                  = 800 J - 1823.85 J

                                  = -1023.85 J

Thus, we can conclude that the internal energy change of the given gas is -1023.85 J.

A total of 20.0 mL of sodium hydroxide (NaOH) was neutralized by 30.0 mL of 0.250 M hydrogen bromide (HBr). What was the concent
Karolina [17]

Answer:

0.375 M

Explanation:

NaOH(aq) + HBr(aq) ------------> NaBr(aq) + H2O(l)

Concetration of acid CA= 0.250M

Concentration of base CB= ????

Volume of acid VA= 30.0mL

Volume of base VB= 20.0mL

Number of moles of acid nA= 1

Number of moles of base nB= 1

CA VA/CB VB= nA/nB

CB= CAVAnB/VB nA

= 0.25× 30×1/20×1= 0.375 M
