Automation is a technology by which processes that are normally meant to be controlled by humans are electronically controlled. These can be through the use of robots, computer aided machines, etc.

For small scale industries, expensive automation should not be employed, it should rather be low cost, because of the financial abilities of these firms.

Low cost automation will improve the production of small scale industries in limited time. Humans cannot match up with machines that have been incorporated with programmable comptrollers in carrying out production processes. Such machines operate at a higher speed and Efficiency.

For example, In a small packaging company, microrobots can be made to serve this purpose while saving the continual cost of labour and at the same time ensuring efficiency.

A small mechanic workshop that decides to employ an automatic diagnostic tool will be more efficient and productive than the one that uses manual approach.

Regarding α and β Particles in Windowless Counter, the range of α particles is lower than β particles. Alpha particles typically have range less than the dimensions of the gas chamber so that proportional  counters are able to easily record. Hence,  with almost 100% efficiency, each particle which enters the so called active volume.

Then, since the pulse height spectra depends on the number of ion pairs which have formed,  an aplha particle with higher energy creates more ion pairs in the chamber.  However, beta particle range usually exceeds the dimensions of the chamber and therefore  most of the betas hit the walls where they deposit energy. Then, fewer ion pairs are formed  because very few β’s give their energy to the bulk gas.
